SC Baby Louis Wright Hung by Ankles in Closet, Beaten by 3 Teens, Under Watchful Eye of Mother, Shakera Wright

Louis Wright, 18-month-old toddler, in critical condition after being beaten by three teens, mother Shakera Wright charged.

SHOCK:  Louis Wright, 18 months old, is in critical condition in a Charleston, SC, hospital after authorities said he was hung by his ankles in a closet and repeatedly beaten by three teenagers - ages 14, 15 & 16 -- without intervention from his mother, Shakera Wright, who has been charged with allowing the beating to occur, according to the Augusta Chronicle.

Police were called to a hospital Tuesday when the mother brought Louis in with face swelling, fractured ribs, bruises and lacerations to his spleen, liver and pancreas. She told a social worker the teens "play-wrestled" with the boy Monday. She said they hit her son until she told them to stop. Arrest warrants say the oldest teen admitted the abuse, calling it wrestling. Source: Augusta Chronicle

The teenagers are old enough to know their actions could cause irreparable damage and possibly death to this toddler. The mother is a disgrace for allowing this to happen. Besides, it seems that the baby was wounded in the head before, since medical personnel found an old wound to the skull. Shameful. Absolutely shameful.

The police report says Wright and her twin sister were staying with the oldest teen. The Associated Press is not naming him because he is a juvenile. The other teens were charged as juveniles and have not been identified. The arrest warrant for the oldest teen says he waived his right to a lawyer and admitted dropping the toddler on the ground and hitting him in his shoulder. He said he and his friends "wrestled" with the child for about 30 minutes, including lifting him above their heads and slamming him on a bed, when his head might have hit a table. Both charges - inflicting the injury and allowing the injury - are felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Source: The State

This is just sick. Plain sick. The mother failed her son miserably. Hanging a baby by his/her ankles inside a closet is not playing. It's attempted murder. Some women shouldn't be able to conceive, much less bring innocent babies in the world to suffer.
