Mark Eliseuson sparks outrage after building snowman in shape of Ku Klux Klan and holding a noose in his Hayden, Idaho, front yard.
When will some people in our society allow kids to be kids? Mark Eliseuson of Hayden, ID, was told by local police to remove a snowman he built on his front lawn shaped like a member of the Ku Klux Klan after complaints from neighbors. Of course, the town of Hayden is no stranger to racism, since the Aryan Nations white supremacist sect has set up shop nearby. I took one look at Mark Eliseuson's picture and trailer trash comes to mind.Kootenai County sheriff's deputies told Mark Eliseuson Wednesday that he could be charged with a crime because the 10-foot-tall snowman was holding what appeared to be a noose. Deputies were called by neighbors who were appalled by the pointy-headed snowman with two dark eyes. Hayden for decades earned notoriety for being near the former rural compound of the Aryan Nations.Eliseuson told Spokane-based KXLY-TV that he sees nothing wrong with the snowman. But other people did. Er, he's a racist, why would he see anything wrong with what he did? I applaud the neighbors who spoke up because this is simply a disgrace. I have always maintained that there are a few wingnuts in our midst who would love nothing better but to see this country go back to the days of Jim Crow. Thankfully, millions of people in this country won't sit by idly and allow such hate to take root in our society once more.
Eliseuson could have been charged with creating a public nuisance. Idaho law defines such a nuisance as anything "offensive to the senses" or that interferes with the comfort of an entire neighborhood. Eliseuson removed the noose and toppled the snowman after he talked with officers. Source: AJC
