Francisco Sierra, 19, and Geraldo Criado, were shot and killed early Saturday night inside the El Nuevo Gurabo social club in the North Ward of Newark, NJ. According to NBC New York, two other people were shot -- a 13 year old and a 21 year old.
Surprise, surprise. The shootings come one week after the city of Newark laid off 167 police officers from its force of 1,265. According to media reports, this is the largest cut to the force since 1978.
The deaths boosted the number of homicides in Newark to 78 this year, compared to 75 at this time last year, according to the Star-Ledger newspaper.
