Park View High School to Open Up Four Slots After Would-Be Black Cheerleaders Claim Racism Over Not Making Squad
Black would-be Park Vista High School cheerleaders claim racism after failing to make squad, now school decides to open four slots for them after parents complain.
Park Vista High School in West Palm Beach, Fla., got a black eye after the families of eight would-be black cheerleaders claimed racism when they failed to make the team. According to Palm Beach Post News, the families said they failed to make the team because they are black and added that some of their white counterparts made racist remarks to them during tryouts. The principal and athletic director have agreed to open up four slots for four black cheerleaders. Did we really have to get to this place where children felt slighted because of race? The athletic director should have realized there would come a time when black students desirous of being on their school's cheerleading squad wouldn't wonder how come they were denied a spot on the team, particularly when racist comments were made by other students.
