Raquel Nelson, Found Guilty by All-White Jury of 2nd Degree Murder in Hit & Run Case, Given Choice of Probation or New Trial at Sentencing

NO JAIL for Raquel Nelson, who faced three years in prison on second degree murder charges after jaywalking leads to death of her four year old son at the hands of drunk driver Jerry Guy, who served only six months on DUI & hit and run charges.

Raquel Nelson, the mom who was found guilty by an all-white jury in a hit and run incident that claimed the life of her four year old son, Aaron Newman, at the hands of drunk driver Jerry Guy, was given a choice by a Cobb County Judge Katherine Tanksley - new trial or probation.

Judge Katherine Tanksley sentenced Nelson to 12 months probation for the first two counts and 12 months probation for the third count, to be served concurrently. Tanksley also suspended $1,000 fines that could be sentenced for each misdemeanor count.
This woman should have never been found guilty of jaywalking based on the loss of her son's life at the hands of a drunk driver, who had offended before. This was unconscionable and shows the justice system is blind when it comes to poor blacks and Hispanics.
