Kenyatta Cannon and Jimmy Porter, parents of Jimmel Cannon accuse the Chicago Police Department of using excessive force when the 13 year old boy was shot eight times after officers claimed he pointed a weapon at them. The parents also claim the child, who sustained gunshot wounds on his hands, shoulders and legs, did not have a gun in his possession.
Police reportedly said they were called to a neighborhood on Chicago's northwest side at around 11:00 p.m. local time Monday to investigate shots fired. They saw Cannon, who matched a description they were given. Police said that the boy had a weapon and refused to drop it when police ordered him to. Cannon's parents said the boy was not holding anything and said he had his hands in the air when he was shot, according to the station. Source: MyFoxChicago
Um, the weapon turned out to be a BB gun. I guess one question for me is who is really lying in this incident? The cops or the parents? If the kid pointed a gun at the cops, then he was clearly in the wrong and was taught a heck of a lesson.
