South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is caught up in the Confederate flag mess. Ben Jealous, president of the NAACP, is urging the Indian-American governor to remove the Confederate flag that flies near her Statehouse office.
But NAACP head Benjamin Jealous said at the group's annual convention in Los Angeles on Monday that "one of the most perplexing examples of the contradictions of this moment in history is that Nikki Haley, South Carolina's first governor of color, continues to fly the Confederate Flag in front of her state's capitol."
Of course, Mrs. Haley's spokesman said she has no plans to revisit the Confederate flag issue. But wait, shouldn't the voters of South Carolina who want the flag removed show her who is really the boss? No matter how hard Nikki Haley tries to separate herself from her Indian heritage, whether it's marrying a white man, ditching her Indian names, blankety, blankety, she'll never cross over to the other side. Just ask Clarence Thomas. She's still a person of color and should be offended by what the flag meant to blacks in this country.
