Bob Marley's Family Loses Copyright Battle Over His Most Famous Reggae Tracks Including "Exodus"

It is disheartening to hear that the family of the late reggae legend Bob Marley has lost a lawsuit seeking ownership of his most famous and well-loved tracks. The court declared executives at UMG Recordings as the rightful owners of copyrights to five albums that Bob Marley recorded between 1973 and 1977 for Island Records, according to MSN. This is a stinging defeat to his widow, Rita Marley and his children. The family reportedly sought to recover millions of dollars in damages over UMG's effort to "exploit" what they called "the quintessential Bob Marley sound recordings." The recordings in question include the albums "Catch a Fire," "Natty Dread" and "Exodus." I really don't know what to say, other than it is unfortunate that Bob Marley didn't put his affairs in order before he died. This is a shame but the law is the law.

This is indeed a blow to the family of Bob Marley.  To read more, CLICK HERE.
