50 Members of Ku Klux Klan Stage Rally in Ellijay, Ga., to Protest Immigration & President Obama

With the racial tensions being fomented in this country by people on the fringe, I am not surprised that members of the Ku Klux Klan were embolden to stage a rally to protest U.S. immigration policies and President Obama, the nation's first black president. According to the Times Free Press, roughly 50 KKK members gathered today in the back parking lot of the Gilmer County Courthouse, located in Ellijay, Georgia.

But a crowd of more than 200 onlookers gathered across the street to watch the demonstration. Police would not allow anyone in the parking lot except Klan members. Speakers for the Knight Riders of the Ku Klux Klan focused most of their words on immigration, hatred of Hispanic immigrants and anger at President Barack Obama.

"Mexicans need to start a revolution in their own country instead of coming here to suck up on the gravy of our hard work," one speaker said. More than a dozen of the spectators carried signs that were in opposition to the Klan's comments and, at times, they sang "Jesus Loves the Little Children" and chanted "Go home." Only a handful of the spectators appeared to be Klan supporters, cheering during the various parts of the speeches and chanting "white power." Source

What the KKK and other white supremacist groups need to realize is that the majority of Americans don't share their views of "white power" and racial inequality. So, they won't get the support they had in the early to mid-1900s. Different time, different people.
