Carla Bruni Reveals in New Book First Lady Michelle Obama Thinks Role is "a Living Hell," Says "Can't Stand it"

Does Michelle Obama think being our First Lady is living in hell? Well, that's what the U.K. Daily Mail is reporting today. Carla Bruni, wife of French Prime Minister Nikolas Sarkozy, reportedly revealed in a wildly indiscreet book that Mrs. Obama replied, when asked about her position as the U.S. president’s wife: ‘Don’t ask! It’s hell. I can’t stand it!’ Wow, that's a little elitist, right? Or ungrateful to some. I don't think she meant it literally. Carla Bruni is a snitch for divulging the details of a private conversation. She can't be trusted and one has to wonder what other secrets she revealed about other heads of state and their wives, or even matters concerning the French.

Details of the private conversation, which took place at the White House during an official visit by Nicolas Sarkozy last March, emerged in Carla And The Ambitious, a book written in collaboration with Miss Bruni. Of course, the right wing will have a field day with this. Personally, I think the role of being president of such a powerful country is daunting and stressful. I guess, living in hell. If Michelle Obama said that, then she's wrong, but I really think she might have been joking. Who knows. Doesn't anyone have a problem with Carla Bruni's ratting out Mrs. Obama just to sell books? Speaks volumes of her character. So, now the White House will be in damage control mode to stem the feeding frenzy this revelation will cause. While the poverty rate in the United States has jumped to 43.6 million and home foreclosures hit a record, the right wing, including the Drudge Report, is focused on what Michelle Obama may or may not have said. UPDATE#1: According to media reports, the author of the book, Yves Derai, said he stands by the explosive dialogue. He insisted it's based on interviews with "reliable sources." Of course, he would not divulge those names, saying it would violate his journalistic principles. The reality is that Carla Bruni is a two-faced media whore who just wants to sell books and be the topic in the news. The bottom line is that what Mrs. Obama is accused of saying was done so privately and should not have been repeated.
