Timothy Taylor, a University of Florida professor of food and resource economics, was fired over his comments about how Latin women dress. According to MyFoxOrlando, he plans to challenge his termination. Taylor, who taught at UF's Gainesville campus, was sent a letter of termination Friday that said he "behaved inappropriately" toward female students for saying during a lesson about sexual harassment that Latin American women dress more provocatively than American women.
The problem for Taylor is this isn't the first time he has been accused of making offensive comments. According to MyFoxOrlando, he had been suspended twice for inappropriate interactions with female students, most recently in 2008. Maybe the university just got sick of dealing with his loose lips! Can you blame them? Sooner or later a lawsuit may be filed over comments he has made or may make in the future.
Taylor reportedly told the Gainesville Sun that he plans to file a grievance to challenge the termination. He claims he was just pointing out the cultural differences mean Latin American women dress more provocative than other women in the United States.
