President Obama Caves to Republican Demand, Halts EPA Regulation on Smog Standards
President Barack Obama, "Caver-in-Chief," has lived up to that moniker once again. This time, he halted a controversial proposed regulation to tighten health-based standards for smog, caving to demands of the Republicans and some business leaders. According to media reports, he overruled the Environmental Protection Agency and directed administrator Lisa Jackson to withdraw the proposal, due in part to reducing regulatory burdens and the unsteady economy.
