Bill Clinton Says President Obama's Tax Plan "a Little Confusing" & He Wouldn't Raise Taxes in this Economy

Former president Bill Clinton, who had a love-hate relationship with then-candidate Barack Obama, said his tax plan "is a little confusing." In an interview with Newsmax, he also said raising revenues in this economy would be counter-productive.

“I personally don’t believe we ought to be raising taxes or cutting spending until we get this economy off the ground," he said. If we cut government spending, which I normally would be very inclined to do when the deficit’s this big, with interest rates already near zero you can’t get the benefits out of it."

"I don’t think you can tax or cut taxes, I don’t think you can spend or not spend enough to get America back to a full employment economy until we flush that debt," he said. Source: Business Insider
Bill Clinton is too skillful and shrewd a politician to just throw out those statements without an ulterior motive or having considered the raised eyebrows they would cause. I'm pretty sure Hillary Clinton won't be running in 2012, but it does show you why Republicans worked with Bill Clinton (though they wanted to feed him to the sharks at some points). He still knows how to strike the right chords.
