SHOCK: Lawrence Dickey, 44, killed his wife, Beatrice Dickey, 44, an official with the Polk County sheriff's office, by allegedly beating her to death with a baseball bat, when they returned home from a concert Saturday night. He later drove to a police station and handed himself over saying: "Lock me up. I just beat my wife with a bat. She is hurt real bad."

Mrs. Dickey's body was found in the master bedroom of the couple's Plant City home with blunt-force trauma to the head with a bloodied aluminium baseball bat beside her. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital and pronounced dead. This is a sad, sad turn of events. The couple's son reportedly said he heard three thumps coming from the room after his father took the bat from the garage. The psychological effect this will have on the child will be great.
