Hillary Clinton & Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff Call for Greater Female Role in Politics

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Brazilian President Dilma Roussef joined forces on Monday to demand a greater global political role for women. You will recall Hillary Clinton came very close to being the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2008 elections, by winning the popular vote, but the delegates opted for then-candidate Barack Obama instead. Rousseff said at a high-level event held at the United Nations ahead of the UN General Assembly, "despite notable progress, gender inequality persists. Women are still the ones who suffer the most from extreme poverty, illiteracy, poor healthcare systems, conflicts and sexual violence." Well said and we would urge more women to become engaged in the political process and even take an active role by running for local office and up the line.
