Gun violence at house parties in New York City seems to be a common occurrence on weekends. Well, this weekend was no different. Eight people, including three kids ages 11, 13 and 14, were shot at a house party in the Bronx early this morning. The NYPD is searching for
Oneil DaSilva, 17, who allegedly opened fire around 3:40 this morning in the backyard of the Williamsbridge home on East 221st Street near Carpenter Avenue, where the party was being held, the New York Post reports. The children are expected to recover from their gunshot wounds.
Five men between the ages of 18 and 24 also were shot and taken to local hospitals. The 24-year-old victim was hit twice in the chest and is fighting for his life at Montefiore Hospital, authorities said. Source
This begs the question, why were these children at a party at that time in the morning? Where were the parents?
