Off-Duty Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Agee Goes on Bloody Rampage in Roanoke VA, Killing Ex-Wife Jennifer Agee & Wounding a State Trooper

SHOCK: Off-duty Franklin County sheriff's deputy Jonathan Agee went on a shooting rampage, killing his ex-wife, Jennifer Agee, and wounding a state trooper before he was wounded in Roanoke, VA. According to WSLS 10, Roanoke City Police said the shootings began around 11:30 a.m. and investigators believe that Agee, 32, of Boones Mill, followed a truck being driven by his ex-wife, into a Sheetz convenience store.

Chief Perkins said a witness told officers that Deputy Agee stepped out of his marked Franklin County patrol cruiser, took out a rifle, and fired multiple shots at Jennifer Agee, while she was outside of her pick-up truck.

After he drove away from the scene, police issued an alert with information about his vehicle and an advisory to be on the lookout for him. Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Matt Brannock spotted a car fitting the description and followed it, a police spokesman said. As Brannock pulled up beside Agee on the highway exit ramp, Agee began firing at the officer, hitting him and causing him to take cover. Source

Egyptian businessman Mahmoud Abdel-Salam Omar charged with sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment, among other charges for groping maid at The Pierre Hotel in NYC, similar to Dominique Strauss-Kahn's alleged sexual assault on African maid at Sofitel Hotel.

Egyptian businessman Mahmoud Abdel-Salam Omar, 74, followed in the footsteps of disgraced International Monetary Fund ex-chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn after he sexually assaulted a maid at another swanky hotel -- The Pierre. According to the NY Daily News, he is accused of locking a 44 year old maid inside his room, grabbing her breasts, forcibly kissing her and rubbing up against her. The incident occurred Sunday, but was not reported to the police until Monday. Why was that? In any case, Omar was charged with sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment, among other charges.

Wow, this is similar to Dominique Strauss-Kahn alleged sexual assault on an African maid at the swanky Sofitel Hotel. He is now out on bail, pending a trial. Omar is the head of El-Mex Salines Co., a solar salt producer in Egypt. He previously served as chairman of the Bank of Alexandria. What is it with powerful men and sex?

URGENT: Bernice King, daughter of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., departs New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Bernice King, daughter of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., led her last altar call at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Sunday at the 11 a.m. service, where she served as an elder. It is not immediately clear if her departure has anything to do with the recent multi-million settlement paid out to the four men who accused Bishop Eddie L. Long of sexual coercion. The names of the men are Spencer LeGrande, Maurice Robinson, Anthony Flagg and Jamal Parris. The lawsuits have also been dismissed. It is rather interesting that King has left the church. Bishop Eddie L. Long is toxic and I wouldn't want to be associated with him as another pastor. Black Media Scoop is reporting that King gave Long her resignation papers during the 11 a.m. service and was reportedly upset about the settlement. Why haven't the members of the church called for Eddie L. Long to step down and stop dragging down the name of the church? His arrogance in the face of guilt is stunning and bare-faced.

It's time for Eddie L. Long to stop down from senior leadership position at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Time to force him out!!!!

UPDATE#1: Bernice King will talk about her decision to leave New Birth and disclose what her plans are for the future on Rhodell Lewis' radio show on Praise 102.5 Tuesday, and on mypraiseatl.com between 4 and 5:30 p.m., according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The church is spinning this story, saying she left with Long's blessings and had been planning this move for quite some time. How ironic that she decided to jump ship right after the settlement was made public and the lawsuits dismissed. Sorry, but this story doesn't pass the smell test.

UPDATE#2: I caught the end of Bernice King's interview on Rhodell Lewis' show. She said she left on good terms with Bishop Long and thanked them for the eight years and eight months she served the ministry. She said she has left to launch her own ministry, which will include a church. She said she is seeking "true disciples" for the body of Christ. She also said her mandate from God is to "raise up kings for the Kingdom." Ms. King also plugged her Facebook fan page. Sorry, but I'm not convinced this is the real reason why she left. Seems to me Ms. King needs to stop beating around the bush and admit Eddie L. Long gave her some hush money to keep the real reason for her departure under wraps. Do we really need another ministry that has even the most subtle connections to Bishop Eddie L. Long?

According to WSB-TV, when asked about the timing of her decision to leave, since it came mere days after the settlement and dismissal of sexual misconduct lawsuits against Long, King said she provided Long with a timetable and that May 29 was the date she decided upon. Right. One thing I hope will come out of Bernice King's departure is that it will split the church leadership and others will jump ship.

Nicholas Williams Charged with Child Cruelty for Allegedly Beating 2 Year Old Daughter to Death Because she Soiled Her Diapers

Nicholas Williams charged with child cruelty for allegedly spanking his two year old daughter so hard she died because she soiled her diapers.

Some people just don't deserve to have children. Nicholas Williams was arrested last week after he allegedly spanked his two year old daughter so hard that she died. Why? Because she soiled her diapers. They should feed him some of his feces too while he's behind bars and beat him if he refuses to eat it.

According to the arrest affidavit, police and paramedics responded to a 911 call made by a woman saying that the child was not breathing at a residence in Austin, Texas, on May 23. When police arrived, they found Williams holding his unresponsive daughter. The officer began performing CPR on the child until paramedics arrived. But an hour later, after being taken to the hospital, she was pronounced dead.

Williams told police that he lightly spanked the girl with a belt because he caught her eating poop. He said her lips were already purple when he caught her eating the poop and believed this was because she was crying since she knew she would be in trouble. He said that he then put her down for a nap. When he checked on her later, he noticed there was blood and vomit on the bed where the girl was lying. This is so reprehensible. The child had bruises all over her body. Why was Nicholas Williams only charged with injury to a child, which is a first degree felony, and not murder.

Bronx Mother Claudia Millan Fatally Shot in Front of Her Young Son, Jahmere, as they Walked Home from Store

Bronx mother of four, Claudia Millan, fatally shot in face as she walked home from Bronx store clutching hand of Jahmere, her two year old toddler, at about 11 p.m. Monday night.

Claudia Millan, 28, was fatally shot in front of her youngest child, as she returned to her East Tremont Avenue apartment in the Bronx about 11 p.m. Monday night, the NYPD said. She was shot in the face and was still holding her two year old son's hand, according to media reports.

Millan was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, but couldn't be saved. Police haven't made an arrest. Neighbor Edith Rivera - who was watching Millan's three other children - heard the shot and ran out to find her friend lying on the pavement next to her toddler son Jahmere. "She was holding his hand," said Edith Rivera, 57. "She was a good mother. She's about her kids." Millan leaves behind an 11-year-old son, who is blind, an 8-year-old daughter, a 7-year-old son and the 2-year-old, Rivera said. Source

The FBI recently released a statement saying violent crime is down in many cities across the U.S., but the Police Executive Research Forum begs to differ. The group polled 233 local law enforcement agencies in 2009 and found that the link between poverty and crime was inextricable, according to MSNBC. Add the recession from which are a slowly recovering to the mix and it makes matters worse.

A 24/7 Wall St. review of 2010 FBI crime data shows violent crime rose in several of the largest and poorest cities in the U.S., particularly those which have been in decline for some time. Even when crime rates dropped, older urban areas still had more violent crime than other cities. Philadelphia, Pa., Cleveland, Ohio, Buffalo, N.Y., and Hartford, Conn., finished high on the FBI’s list but failed to make the final 24/7 Wall St. ranking.

Poverty will always be a part of our society on some level.That's just the way it is, but as a country, we have to make a concerted effort to provide more opportunities to the residents in the inner cities who face the highest unemployment rates due to a lack of training. There is a serious societal breakdown that is evident in all the cities in the Top 10 list. Politicians have failed their constituents in these poorer communities and some of the people have failed themselves as well. Whatever happened to pulling yourself up by the bootstrap? I know it's bigger than personal responsibility, but that plays a small role as well.

Jamaican-American reggae-rap star Sean Kingston in critical condition after hitting bridge connecting Palm Island to MacArthur Causeway in Florida in jet ski accident.

Reggae-rap star Sean Kingston is listed in critical condition after being involved in a jet skiing accident in Florida Sunday. According to the Daily Mail, Kingston was rushed to a local hospital after he hit a bridge connecting Palm Island with the MacArthur Causeway while driving a jet ski at around 6pm.

He is currently being treated in a trauma ward, due to the severity of his injuries. The singer, who had success with the reggae styled pop song Beautiful Girls, also had a woman on board with him. However, it wasn’t long before Hamilton was forced into a humiliating retraction and apology after F1’s governing body, the FIA, suggested he could be charged with bringing the sport into disrepute. It led to a further meeting with race stewards where the 26-year-old tried to repair the damage.

He added afterwards: ‘What I said was a bit of a joke, which wasn’t funny at the time.

SHOCK: Crystal Sweet, 22, and an unidentified man, who her family has said was her boyfriend, were shot and killed outside a courtyard at the Sheepshead Bay Houses on Avenue W near Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, according to the NY Daily Post. A third man, the dead man's brother, is listed in critical condition at Kings County Hospital. Police have not disclosed a motive for the bloody rampage and the investigation is proceeding. UPDATE#1: According to the NY Post, Sweet's boyfriend, Timothy Walter, has a long rap sheet that included past arrests for murder and narcotics charges. In short, a real thug. Police believe drugs are behind the double slaying. The newspaper is also reporting police found crack cocaine on both men.

He said the reforms the Republican Party has put forward for Medicare isn't rationing. He says the idea is to give seniors the ability to choose what's best for them, like Medicare Part D. This will be a political albatross around the necks of the Republican Party. Of course, this will be a boon for the insurance companies, who will be able to drop enrollees as they please, thanks to the Republican Party.

The Republican Party also introduced a jobs bill that will reduce corporate taxes down to 25 percent. What's in that for Main Street? He claims this will create jobs. Really? Haven't we heard this before? Much of the same crap. He also said everything is on the table where cuts are concerned.

Sarah Palin's name came up -- he was asked if he would like to see her get in the race. He said Sarah Palin reflects what the party is saying -- country has a choice to make or wants a country that tilts to the private sector. He said "the candidates in the race for the GOP are serious candidates." Right. This is the first roundabout endorsement of a Palin presidential candidacy. He said Michele Bachmann is a "great American" -- an attorney, politician and business woman-- and "is very qualified to do whatever she wants to do." Sorry, but Eric Cantor is being just that, a politician. One thing I will concede is the nothing the government runs can ever be done efficiently and yes, the private sector will have to step up to the plate to return this country to its former state. Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, however, aren't the two individuals to lead this charge in any shape or form.

Aspiring model, LaShawn Threatt, celebrating her 30th birthday, falls 10 stories to her death at W Hotel in midtown Atlanta, while best friend Ciara Williams in critical condition after the two women crashed through window play wrestling.

LaShawna Threatt, an aspiring model, plunged to her death early Saturday morning after play wrestling with her best friend, Ciara Williams, who is in critical condition. Threatt was celebrating her 30th birthday with a group of friends and had gone to the swank W Hotel in midtown Atlanta for an after-party after having dinner. Both women reportedly crashed through a thick window and fell 10 stories from the hotel.

Atlanta Police Department spokesman Carlos Campos said witnesses at the 14th Street hotel told officers that Threatt and the other woman crashed through the window at around 3:15 a.m. As the women fell, they hit another structure -- an area that had a slanted sunroof. Threatt remained there.

The other woman rolled off the ledge and fell the remaining 20 feet unto the patio, police said. She is at Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

"It appears that there was no malicious act, no foul play, they were just wrestling with each other, they hit the window, the window broke, and they fell out," said Atlanta Police Lt. Paul Guerrucci. Source

That's pretty shocking. I'm sure the medical examiner will be doing blood tests to see if alcohol played a factor. This is a tragic turn of events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of LaShawna Threatt and we pray for a speedy recovery for Ciara Williams.

I take anything that comes from Andrew Breitbart with a grain of salt, particularly since the modern-day lynching of Mrs. Sherrod. Either Weiner's Twitter account was hacked, which isn't out of the realm of possibilities, Breitbart cooked this up or we'll have to see how Weiner gets out of this one. We don't know who the man in the picture is and no-one can say whether or not it's Weiner. So, I think this will die a fast death in the news cycle, but the late-night television comedians will probably have a field day with this one. One thing I should note is that only BigGovernment claims to have original screenshots of this picture and the post was published under an anonymous name -- Publius. Why hide behind an alias? Sorry, I'm not buying this for a minute. Yeah, Breitbart probably paid someone to hack the congressman's accounts.

UPDATE#1: Rep. Anthony Weiner said his accounts were hacked. He did not send the picture to 25 year old coed Gennette Nicole Cordova, who lives in Seattle. Okay, then is an investigation going to be launched in how this happened or who the culprit is? From what I have read, once a verified Twitter account is hacked, the company reportedly takes it down for a short time to investigate. It doesn't seem that Rep. Weiner's account was ever taken down by Twitter. Well, I still think Andrew Breitbart will come out of this stinky.

UPDATE#2: Seems like Rep. Anthony Weiner just can't get his story straight. Now he's saying he "can't say with certitude it's not him" in his undies. Dude, where is your attorney? If you really had an attorney he would tell you to STFU and stop incriminating yourself. If it is you, then how did a hacker get a hold of this picture? Is the hacker your wife? Or you? Weiner isn't answering questions, calling a reporter a "jackass" when pressed on why the matter wasn't turned over to Capitol police. Looking for former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at the June 13 GOP debate in New Hampshire? Don't hold your breath. He said yesterday that he won't be there. He won't be participating in any presidential debates until he makes a decision of whether or not he'll seek the GOP presidential nomination.

Huntsman, you should note, served as ambassador to China under President Barack Obama. He recently spent five days in New Hampshire, testing the waters, if you will. He reportedly won't make a decision about running until after the June 13th debates. The debate is being sponsored by CNN, the Manchester Union Leader and WMUR-TV and will broadcast live from St. Anselm College.

Jon Huntsman is an interesting play for the nomination, but the fact that he worked for President Obama could be a little awkward and I might also add, he's more of a moderate Republican, which could be interesting for independents and progressives. He's certainly a more trustworthy possibility than Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann and yes, Sarah Palin.

Members of a small predominantly black Mt. Olive Baptist Church file lawsuit to have pastor Theodore Baines Sr. removed for abuses including alcohol, threatening parishioners with firearms, making lewd comments to women and for being arrested.

The members of predominantly black Mount Olive Baptist Church in east Houston have filed a lawsuit seeking to remove their pastor, Rev. Theodore Baines Sr., for allegedly abusing alcohol, threatening parishioners with fists and firearms, making lewd comments to women, embarrassing the congregation for waving a pistol while speeding down a freeway and for making unauthorized electronic withdrawals from a church account, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Baines was selected to lead the largely African-American congregation in October 2009. However, the lawsuit contends, the minister never was formally installed. Plaintiffs say Baines, described in the lawsuit as being more than 6-feet, 4-inches tall and weighing more then 300 pounds, intimidated them into skipping the final step.

In March, the lawsuit says, church members fired Baines via certified mail, but he refused to accept the letter. The lawsuit describes the church as being almost 90 years old, with a congregation of about 90 members.

Baines allegedly "uncontrollably consumed" alcohol, cursed a church officer and forced a parishioner off church property at gunpoint, according to the suit. Rosenberg police confirmed Thursday that Baines was arrested March 11 on charges of aggravated assault and unlawfully carrying a firearm after he allegedly waved a pistol at other motorists as he drove on U.S. 59. Well, even though the matter has been resolved somebody's reputation has been tarnished. Let's see if the lawsuits are dismissed tomorrow as a result of the settlements being paid. Bishop Eddie L. Long is damaged and can't claim victory. Even though he vehemently denied any wrongdoing, he still settled the case. Why? I would have wanted my day in court if I was innocent of the accusations leveled against me. Newbirth Missionary Baptist Church is feeling the fall-out from his actions -- church membership has fallen, Long's salary is to be reduced, etc. Of course they will blame it on the economy. He won't leave the pulpit. His ego is too big and some members of his cult-like church will stand by him to the end. He believes in his heart that he can just say the words, I am redeemed and that allows him to move on, in his mind. Let's see if the Eddie L. Long that emerges from this scandal will continue to be a staunch anti-homosexual advocate or even a visible public figure.

What has occurred at Newbirth is a throwback to what occurred at the Cathedral at Chapel Hill where his one-time spiritual advisor, the late Bishop Earl Paulk reigned supreme, but his glass house was shattered with allegations of the worst kind -- a  13-year adulterous relationship with the wife of one of his pastors - Mona Brewer and that he fathered a child with his sister-in-law. I decided to run to the hills after the last set of allegations of adultery stuck to Bishop Paulk like glue. You see, he had been accused of this same thing before, but he always found a way to get out of it, this time, Mona Brewer's case stuck and he had no way out. Even though he blamed the devil for the "lies," he ended up in court, lied under oath and ended his life on probation. Maurice Barboza, a Washington D.C. lawyer, is seeking support for a Revolutionary war monument for Peter Salem, a freed slave from Framingham, MA, who fought in several battles including Bunker Hill, where historians believe he shot and killed British Maj. John Pitcairn, the Herald News said. So, why are the contributions of this valiant man and other blacks who played a big role in the nation's founding being largely ignored? Barboza is fighting to honor these fallen men and women with a monument in Washington D.C. and is asking towns in Massachusetts to pass resolutions supporting legislation recently filed in Congress that would allow the privately funded memorial to be built, the newspaper said.

The statue will honor the about 5,000 African-Americans who fought or helped during the Revolutionary War. About 1,500 of those men and women, or 30 percent, were from Massachusetts, including 14 from Framingham, according to records compiled by Barboza's organization, Liberty Fund D.C.....

Salem, for example, was documented in local historian George Quintal's "Patriots of Color," a copy of which is at the Framingham History Center. After surviving the war, Salem was forced by local laws to move back to Framingham, the home of his former owner, where he spent the remainder of his life, historians said. Although poor, "he was sort of a local celebrity," Swope said. "He used to weave baskets out of straw and sell them for a few pennies apiece in town," Wallace added. When he died, Salem was buried in a pauper's grave in what is now the Church Hill Cemetery, away from the wealthier, white residents laid to rest there.

Salem's gravesite has since been marked with a stone memorial. But other Revolutionary War heroes have been wiped from historical record, Barboza said. He remains hopeful that the flurry of recent discoveries will spur the search for more of their names and stories. Source

We are as much ingrained in the fabric of America's existence and being that we shouldn't sit idly by and not honor the legacy of these courageous men and women. According to the newspaper, a reliable source said, "There is ongoing collaboration between Britain, Canada and ourselves, and it is almost certain, like the USA, those countries will also cancel visas issued to him, as long as it is established that he has those in his possession." This is big and should have members of both parties wondering who is next in the fallout from Dudus.

Besides the obvious fact that his wife was living the high life ringing up $500,000 in charges, one can't ignore the deeper meaning to all this -- lobbyists, namely Cassidy & Co. SpyTalk is reporting his wife, Callista Bisek Gingrich worked for the House Agriculture Committee, which was heavily lobbied by Tiffany & Co. So, once again, we have rumblings of Newt Gingrich's hypocrisy and double-speak.

At the same time Tiffany & Co. was extending Callista (Bisek) Gingrich a virtual interest-free loan of tens of thousands of dollars, the diamond and silverware firm was spending big bucks to influence mining policy in Congress and in agencies over which the House Agriculture Committee–where she worked–had jurisdiction, official records show.

Filings by Tiffany’s lobbyist, Cassidy & Co., and other government records show that the firm’s spending on “mining law and mine permitting-related issues” in Congress, as well as the Forest Service, the Interior Department, and Interior’s Bureau of Land Management shot up sharply between during the period when Callista Gingrich was chief clerk at the House Agriculture Committee.

I would hope the fact that he's trailing in all the polls is an indication to Newt Gingrich speaks to his inelectability and we will be rid of this ridiculous sideshow sooner rather than later. When pressed about the issue in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Newt had this to say, according to the Washington Post:

Talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey ends daytime run on a high note, having touched the lives of countless people across the world in many, teaching women and girls to love themselves unconditionally.

COMMENTARY: I never thought in a million years that we would be saying goodbye to the "Oprah Winfrey Show" on national television. I grew into adulthood watching Oprah during my undergraduate years at Ohio University and I gained a keen awareness of the world outside those college walls through Oprah's eyes.  Keen awareness of that my "blackness" was reviled by some white Americans -- white supremacists who walked off the set of her show, or even Hosea Williams, who was spat on by whites in Forsyth County, Ga. I grew up in a country, Jamaica, where I was limited by my capabilities and not by the color of my skin, so naturally, when I moved here, I expected the same thing. But history continued to manifest itself in more subtle ways then. I was called a nigger by a white student one night and I was mortified. I was ready to let him have it but I didn't. I walked away. Oprah taught me how to hold my head high and keep going. I did.

Oprah Winfrey taught me a powerful lesson, that my self-worth shouldn't hinge on a man loving me. I had to value myself above and beyond the assessment of others. In short, I had to love myself, in spite of my faults and mistakes. I had to learn to let the past be just that - the past. Oprah taught me that I can fly. I can literally touch the skies, but I have to be prepared to put in the work, hard work. I recall one episode in which she said, do what you love, the money and fame will come. That episode also reminded me of the parable of the talents and how the steward wasted all his talents by burying them. You can't expect to reach the pinnacle of whatever you envision if you don't use your God-given abilities to help you get there. I believe you must surround yourself with the right people, as Oprah has always said and has embodied.

Oprah introduced me to my favorite singer on the TV screen -- Patti LaBelle. I will never forget the first time I really paid attention to this incomparable singer, was one episode during which she sang the Lord's Prayer a Capella. That blew my mind. Her voice, her story, her conviction and her dedication to honing her craft to become one of the best singers of our time is nothing short of breath-taking and awe-inspiring. To think she started singing during a period in America where she had to use entrances and facilities for "colored people." I have followed Patti LaBelle and her career since that day, always in awe of her voice, even when she had bad days, as we all have experienced at some point in our lives, she was always the consummate entertainer. Some people have said, people with special talents, such as Oprah and Patti, were predestined to shine and become as famous as they have, but I think they would say, they have been incredibly lucky, worked hard, honed their craft and never gave up. These women have embodied the word resilience in every sense. They would say we all have the ability to rise above our circumstances and be the greatest person we possibly can be.

In the years after I graduated, I must admit I didn't watch Oprah regularly, but she had left an indelible mark in my spirit that I have taken with me through the years. I am a political news junkie and I have a vision for my website that I beam with joy when I share it with friends. I have had a long career in operations, but I never went into Journalism, as I should have. I came to a crossroad in my life four years ago and I decided my heart has always been in writing and Journalism. I have come full circle back to the place I started at Ohio University in the Scripps School of Journalism. So, yes, I am putting in the work, using the skills I have learned through the years in my various administrative capacities to run a growing online media enterprise, as well as the lessons learned at OU.

I must also admit, that Journalism is such a visible and visual career, that I shunned it, in part, because I always battled weight issues and I was never pleased with how I looked. I was always so self-conscious. I watched Oprah's battles through the years and realized that I wasn't the only one in that struggle and I had a lot to offer. I owe that epiphany in great part to two powerful women -- Oprah Winfrey and my mother, Admira Blake. My mother saw the goodness in me that Oprah has always championed on her shows. My mother saw a winner in me, when I couldn't see it one. My mother is my biggest advocate and supporter. My mother embodied the person Oprah has always been to many women and young girls. So, in closing, Oprah Winfrey has touched the hearts and souls of my women -- black, white, Asian, Muslim, gay, straight, transgendered, you name it! She has always led with grace, dignity and a fierce determination to succeed, even in the face of failure.Always deeply spiritual and a deeply anchored faith in the power of prayer.

Never in a million years would many expect Oprah Winfrey, a one-time wayward child from Kosciusko, Mississippi, to teach us us you can rise above your circumstances. She taught us the importance of giving back and being a servant-leader. Oprah Winfrey taught us that true beauty comes from within and not based on the superficial. This is indeed, the end of an era on daytime television as we know it. I have often said, there is no-one out there like Patti LaBelle. She can be imitated but never duplicated. The same thing holds true for Oprah. I salute you my sistah! You have done well. It is the end of an era. It is the end of "the age of Oprah."

He made this threat during an interview with the U.K. Daily Telegraph at Cannes Film Festival. His exact words for taking up arms against Barack Obama were: “For what purpose? Well, I’m not going to say the words 'Barack Obama,' but …” That amounts to a federal crime and he shouldn't get a slap on the wrist for saying it. Let us not forget Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who was shot in the head by, Jared Loughner, a young man on the fringe. The "Easy Rider" star's comments come after he called President Obama a f*cking traitor last week.

“Clearly, there is a federal law that prohibits threatening the president,” Washington, D.C.-based attorney Ross Nabatoff tells FOX411.com. “Now, the question is, is that a threat as opposed to him expressing his First Amendment rights? But you could conceivably construe that as a threat—he names the president. It’s a federal offense. He could be incarcerated.”

The Secret Service has paid visits to people, including teens, who have said much less damning things about the president. This shouldn't be taken lightly because there are many, many people in the U.S. on the fringe who would be too happy to actually carry out such a call. The Fonda family, including Jane "Hanoi Jane" Fonda are no strangers to controversy. This time Peter Fonda should be blacklisted from Hollywood for stepping outside his First Amendment right and threatening bodily harm to our president. I know there may be a jurisdictional issue that may stop any legal action from occurring, since the comments were made in France, but this is just despicable nonetheless and warrant a visit from the feds.

Alamance county, NC, commissioner Tim Sutton under fire for accusing "black community of turning back on violence in neighborhoods" in wake of shooting death of 13 year old Shakanah China.

Tim Sutton, an Alamance county commissioner accused the black community of turning its back on the violence in neighborhoods, particularly in the wake of the fatal murder of 13 year old Shakanah China in Durham last week. According to the Wilmington Journal, Sutton told WBAG radio that blacks "are afraid to confront" people who engage in crime in their backyard. Say it, they are afraid to "snitch."

"Do you think for a moment - I'll just be blunt about it - do you think for a moment whites would let people do that without saying you're going to face me or you're not going to be able to do it," The Times News newspaper reports Sutton saying during the "Talkline" show. "We are going to take you or you're going to take us. I don't think we'd let it happen."

When told that color should have nothing to do with the issue, Sutton is quoted as responding,""I think the black community turns their back on stuff. They're afraid to confront the people that are doing it, and it's socioeconomic. If you don't have a man in the house, if you have - you know - divorce rates or no-married rates that are what they are I guess maybe you don't have anybody to confront these people that are doing it." Michael Graves, head of Concerned Citizens of Alamance County, has taken offence with Sutton's comments and wants an apology. But isn't it a known fact that some blacks don't want to be labeled as snitches and will look the other way when crimes are committed in their backyards? It has always irked me to no end when they knowingly harbor criminals by virtue of their silence. Maybe Sutton shouldn't have thrown in the "divorce rate or no-married rates" comment, but you can't ignore the fact there is a no-snitch mentality in these crime-ridden neighborhoods.

Either way, he won't be able to practice law again, but with the former option, he would avoid prison. In the latter, he would be charged with a felony and possibly sentenced to a prison term.

Harvard/Tufts Study Claims White Americans Feel More Discriminated Against than Blacks

Harvard & Tufts university study claims white Americans feel they are more discriminated against than blacks.

Another race-based study.... This one claims White Americans feel they are more discriminated against than blacks, according to sociologists from Harvard and Tufts universities.

They asked 209 white and 208 black men and women to rate 'racism' against both ethnic groups since the 1950s on a scale of one to 10.

The results showed that while both blacks and whites saw anti-black racism decreasing over the decades, whites saw race relations as a 'zero sum game' where they were losing out as blacks 'gained' the advantage. The results, published in the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science, showed that on average blacks saw anti-white bias rising slightly from 1.4 in the 1950s to 1.8 today.

Blacks also perceived that racism against themselves had steeply declined from 9.7 in the 1950s to 6.1 in the 90s. White respondents, however, saw a very different picture. For the 2000s, 11 per cent of whites gave anti-white bias the maximum 10 out of 10 rating, compared with only two per cent of whites who did so for anti-black bias. Whites believed that discrimination against them had increased from an average of 1.8 in the 1950s to 4.7 in the 2000s.

All those surveyed were asked: 'Indicate how much you think blacks/whites were/are the victims of discrimination in the United States in each of the following decades.' Source

I am so sick of all these studies that claim to have the answers for what ails this country where race-relations are concerned. One thing is abundantly clear, we aren't heading for a post-racial America in the near future.

GOP presidential hopeful and Tea Party darling Herman Cain laments over not being taken seriously by the Republican Party and isn't getting the media coverage he deserves.

Tea Party favorite and GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain is now lamenting that he doesn't get the respect of the Republican Party. Er, could that be because they don't like you Mr. Cain and know you can't beat President Obama? He recently said in an interview that he's also not getting the coverage he thinks he deserves from the nation's media. Again, we don't take you serious, bro!

“Even if I were white I’m not going to take fire within the Republican Party until they start to take note of my accomplishments,” said Mr. Cain, the lone African-American now pursuing the GOP nomination. “”It has nothing to do with my color…I just happen to be outside of the establishment.”

Mr. Cain, who also served as a Federal Reserve Bank chairman in Kansas City, takes issue with prominent Republicans who have dismissed him as a candidate. Former Bush adviser Karl Rove, for instance, questioned Mr. Cain’s fitness for the nomination in remarks Monday on Fox News.

“ It’s not just your own personal narrative,” Mr. Rove said, in talking about a man he referred to as that “Atlanta talk-radio guy.” “It is what have you done in your life that gives us confidence that the vision you’re laying out is something that you can actually do?” Source: Wall Street Journal
