According to KTVI, the shooting occurred just before noon in front of the Reliable funeral home on Washington Avenue. Several people have been shot, four dead, and homicide detectives have been requested, KTVI said. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Chief Dan Isom said today's shooting of four people at a St. Louis funeral home is the product "of an ongoing feud between gangs in St. Louis." He also told the newspaper the funeral was for homicide victim David Terell Davis, Sr. Hoodrats acting out again.

Finally a Republican is speaking up about the train wreck known as Sarah Palin. Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," slammed her on her qualifications and the boldness of her comparing herself to former President Ronald Reagan and dismissing former president George H.W. Bush and his wife as "blue bloods." Scarborough wrote a commentary in Politico and called on the GOP to "Man Up and Confront Sarah Palin." Hehehe! Could Joe Scarborough has the cojones others in the Republican Party lack to call out this bumbling idiot who thinks she is qualified to lead this great nation, though her track-record says otherwise.

Republicans have a problem. The most-talked-about figure in the GOP is a reality show star who cannot be elected. And yet the same leaders who fret that Sarah Palin could devastate their party in 2012 are too scared to say in public what they all complain about in private. Enough. It’s time for the GOP to man up.

Everybody knows that Palin is a busy woman. The former half-term governor of Alaska stays so busy these days that one wonders how this mother of five manages to juggle her new reality show, follow her eldest daughter’s dancing career and launch her latest frenetic book tour while still finding the time to insult a slew of revered presidents and first ladies.

Still, Palin is undeterred, charging ahead maniacally while declaring her intention to run for the top office in the land if “nobody else will.” Adding audacity to this dopey dream is that Palin can’t stop herself from taking swings at Republican giants. In the past month alone, she has mocked Ronald Reagan’s credentials, dismissed George H.W. and Barbara Bush as arrogant “blue bloods” and blamed George W. Bush for wrecking the economy......

I suppose Palin’s harsh dismissal of this great man (George H. W. Bush) is more understandable after one reads her biography and realizes that, like Bush, she accomplished a great deal in her early 20s. Who wouldn’t agree that finishing third in the Miss Alaska beauty contest is every bit as treacherous as risking your life in military combat? Maybe the beauty contestant who would one day be a reality star and former governor didn’t win the Distinguished Flying Cross, but the half-termer was selected as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants. Joe Scarborough's take on Sarah Palin are on point and I hope more Republicans come out and inform her that her presidency isn't one anyone in their right mind would like to see become a reality. Can you picture Sarah Palin in high-level talks with heads of state during an official visit? This would be the woman who took six years to get a bachelor's degree and couldn't bother keeping her end of the bargain to the people who voted for her as their governor in Alaska and finishing her term.

Charges Against Virginia Woman, Carmela Dela Rosa, to be Upgraded to Murder After Toddler She Threw Off Mall Walkway Dies

Carmela Dela Rosa facing murder charges after toddler granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc, she threw six stories over shopping mall walkway, dies.

SHOCK: Carmela Dela Rosa of Fairfax, Va., was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding after throwing her two-and-half year old granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc, six stories off an outdoor walkway at Tysons Corner Center around 7:15 p.m. Monday, Fairfax County Police spokesperson Tawny Wright told WTOP. According to the Chicago Sun Times, the child has since died and the charges are expected to be upgraded to murder.

Police spokeswoman Tawny Wright said the toddler and Dela Rosa were leaving the mall with family when Dela Rosa allegedly picked Angelyn Ogdoc up and threw her off the walkway, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

The Obama Administration reeling in the wake of WikiLeaks documents that showed America has little regard for foreign leaders, including staunch allies, the British.

Julian Assange is a boil on the backside of the United States. I am baffled as to how he came in control of classified documents. Have we learned nothing from September 11, 2001?  The Obama Administration will be in damage control all week from this mess. What I am also puzzled about is why this man is on this crusade to make America a laughingstock on the international stage. It is amazing that an international warrant for this freak's arrest hasn't been issued to-date. On a serious note, aren't those assessments about the above foreign leaders on point? When I see Robert Mugabe on TV or in the news, a man of integrity certainly doesn't come to mind. He's literally robbing his country blind. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is a gaffe-machine who isn't well respected in his country, much less on the international stage. I could go on and on. Still, the elbow to the lip that President Obama took last weekend pales in comparison to the nightmare this has caused him and his Administration. I recall Hillary Clinton's campaign ad about who would you trust at 3 a.m., well, I guess she has more cojones than we thought. Of course, the U.K. Daily Mail is having a field day with this. After all, they have been overly critical of President Obama on many fronts. I guess the bigger question for me is who is financing Julian Assange and WikiLeaks?

Sheriff's Deputy in Serious Condition After Being Shot While Attempting to Serve Warrant to Joshua Matthew Waller in DeKalb County, Ga.

DeKalb County sheriff's deputy Cpl. Gary Freeman is in serious condition after being shot by Joshua Matthew Waller, while attempting to serve warrant on misdemeanor charge.

Cpl. Gary Freeman, a DeKalb County, Ga., sheriff's deputy is in serious condition after being shot while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a misdemeanor charge to Joshua Matthew Waller. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, police said Waller was accused of simple battery against a neighbor in the Keys Crossing condominiums, off Briarwood Road.

Waller, 36, opened the front door and shot the deputy in the forearm and then refused to come out of his home, Brown said. Officers were negotiating with Waller shortly before 10 p.m., he said. The entrances to the condominiums were blocked Sunday evening during the incident, a resident told the AJC.

What an idiot. The police was going to take him in one way or another. He'd better pray that the officer survives or he's looking at a murder charge. If you don't break the law, no law enforcement agent will come to your home, simple. Why am I not surprised that Joshua Waller has a lengthy rap sheet and is no stranger to prison. According to 11 Alive, DeKalb officials said he had been to the DeKalb County Detention Center at least three prior times, including once for DUI. A real nuisance to society who needs to be taken off the streets once and for all.

James Barrow Wanted by College Park, Ga., Police for Fatally Shooting Estranged Wife Asa Stean Barrow Outside Discount Mall

Latest incident of domestic violence claims life of Asa Stean Barrow of College Park, Ga., police seek husband James Barrow.

I am saddened by that latest incident of domestic violence that claimed the life of an innocent woman. James Barrow, who is black, is being sought by College Park, Ga., police in the shooting death of his estranged wife, Asa Stean Barrow. She was shot in front of the Old National Discount Mall in College Park.

According to 11 Alive News, Lt. Bruce Braxton said in a statement their initial investigation revealed James Barrow shot his wife then exchanged gunfire with mall security guards before fleeing the mall.

UPDATE#1:  According to the AJC, Troup County deputies located James Barrow several hours later at a relative's home and he was arrested without incident. He will now be brought back to College Park where he faces some heavy charges -- murder, aggravated assault and stalking. As sad as this is for his deceased wife, it is a good thing that he will be taken off our streets.

Steven Pieper Arrested & Charged with 2nd Degree Murder in the Death of Ex-Girlfriend Jenni-Lyn Watson

Steven Pieper, ex-boyfriend of college student Jenni-Lyn Watson, charged with second degree murder & dumping her body.

Steven Pieper, the ex-boyfriend of Jenni-Lyn Watson, was arrested after the Mercyhurst College student's body was found in a storage shed near Syracuse Saturday afternoon. He was charged with second-degree murder. He pled not guilty to the murder and to dumping her body in the park.  Pieper, 21, is being held without bail because of the nature of the charges, according to the Syracuse Post-Standard.

Steven M. Pieper, 21, of 8237 Coconut Tree Drive, Clay, was arrested about 4 p.m. and arraigned tonight on a charge of second-degree murder in Clay Town Court. District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said Pieper (PIE-per) and Watson had been involved in an on-and-off relationship, which Watson tried to end in early October. Domestic violence cuts across socio-economic, religious and racial backgrounds and sexual orientation. It is a sad commentary that the perpetrators of violence against their partners think their actions won't come to light. It is common knowledge that when a woman is murdered, the first person the police look at is the boyfriend or husband.

Augusta Chronicle Editorial Says President Obama's Position on Grace Wrong, Only "Christianity Leads to Eternal Life"

A. G. Blackmon pens editorial in Augusta Chronicle saying President Barack Obama is wrong on his position about grace and only Christianity will lead to eternal life.

I came across an interesting editorial in the Sunday edition of The Augusta Chronicle and I marvel at the hypocrisy of some Christians. The editorial, penned by A. G. Blackmon of Warrenville, SC, asks "What Does President Obama Know About Grace." The author's basic premise is that President Obama didn't have a right to say that religious freedom leads to grace for all. The conclusion reached is fraught with hypocrisy and hubris -- "there are many religions, but only one that leads to eternal life." Really? So, what will become of the Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and all those who walk the right path in their lives and aren't Christians? How does one define salvation? Here's an excerpt from the narrow-minded screed:

A Washington Times editorial Oct. 11 quotes President Obama as saying the United States "is still predominantly Christian, but has other faiths whose 'path to grace is one that we have to revere and respect as much as our own.' "

We agree freedom to worship is a legal guarantee of the Constitution, giving every man the right to choose whatever he wants to believe; however, when the subject of grace is broached by the president of the United States as common to "other faiths," it should be open to question.

While grace is a word of many meanings and applications, when pertaining to salvation, it is reserved to the Christian faith alone. Salvation was purchased by Jesus Christ dying on a cross for the sins of man, and that death being imputed to man by grace through faith -- there is no other way.

I guess the definition of grace and a sure spot in "heaven" to live eternally depends on who you ask and how they interpret the Bible. I might also add that the Bible was written of an oral tradition and translated by many with their own agendas. It is worth reading about how the Bible was translated to English to fully understand that some things were really lost in translation. So, President Obama's statement about grace isn't far-fetched. It promotes religious freedom and acceptance of other religions. Surely the God we serve isn't one who is going to turn His back on others because they don't come to Him through Jesus, who some see as a prophet. I might also add that any editorial based on any news item or editorial found in the Washington Times is questionable and narrow-minded.

Body of Missing Mercyhurst College Dance Student Jenni-Lyn Watson May Have Been Found in Syracuse

Body found behind storage shed in Clay Central Park near Syracuse, may be missing Mercyhurst College student Jenni-Lyn Watson.

The body of missing 20 year-old Mercyhurst College dance major Jenni-Lyn Watson may have been found earlier Saturday in Syracuse, NY. According to the New York Post, searchers combing through woods in search of the missing student found a body covered in debris behind a storage shed in a swampy area in Clay Central Park.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said the remains have not been positively identified but were consistent in age and race with Jenni-Lyn Watson, who disappeared after returning home for Thanksgiving break last week. This is such a sad turn of events and a promising life was cut short. It is my hope that the suspect is caught sooner rather than later.

Tracey Attaway Arrested for Stabbing Marine Cpl. Phillip Duggan During Shoplifting Attempt at Augusta Store

Black man, Tracey Attaway, arrested & charged with stabbing US Marine Cpl. Phillip Duggan as he attempted to shoplift laptop at Augusta Best Buy store.

Tracey Attaway of Waynesboro, Ga., was arrested and charged with stabbing a Marine, Cpl. Pillip Dugan, who was helping to subdue him during a shoplifting attempt at a Best Buy store in Augusta Friday morning. Duggan and three other Marines were outside the store collecting donations for Toys for Tots. According to the Augusta Chronicle, Attaway, who is black, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a knife in the commission of a crime. What a dirtbag!

Orvin Smith, a sales manager at Best Buy, said the incident occurred about 1:15 p.m. when a man was seen on surveillance videos placing a laptop under his jacket. Store staff asked Attaway to return the merchandise, and the situation began to escalate.

"He was really irate. A whole lot of energy. ... he finally let go of the laptop, ran out the front door, knocked one of my employees down and pulled out a knife so he could make sure he could get out the front door," Smith said.

Attaway ran again but didn't get far before Richie, several other Marines and members of the store's loss-prevention team tackled him in the parking lot and held him until deputies arrived. Source: Augusta Chronicle

Attaway also attempted to steal two digital cameras, an XBox game, a PS3 game and a PS3 game controller, according to the Augusta Chronicle. This dirtbag was up to no good and thankfully he will be off the streets for some time.

Somali-Born Teen Mohamed Osman Mohamud Arrested in Terroristic Attempt in Portland OR

Somali-born US citizen Mohamed Osman Mohamud arrested in terror attempt in Portland during attempt to detonate fake bomb planted by federal agents.

SHOCK: Somali-born teen Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, was arrested during an undercover sting operation in Portland, Oregon. According to WUSA9, Mohamud was arrested Friday evening as he allegedly tried to blow up a van full of what he thought were explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, federal authorities said. The bomb, which was fake, was supplied by the agents. He was charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, which carries a maximum prison sentence of life.

He was arrested just after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would set off the blast but instead brought federal agents and police swooping down on him. Yelling "Allahu Akbar!" -- Arabic for "God is great!" -- Mohamud tried to kick agents and police after he was taken into custody, according to prosecutors.

"The threat was very real," said Arthur Balizan, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. "Our investigation shows that Mohamud was absolutely committed to carrying out an attack on a very grand scale,"

The FBI affidavit that outlined the investigation alleges that Mohamud planned the attack for months, at one point mailing bomb components to FBI operatives, whom he believed were assembling the device.

It said Mohamud was warned several times about the seriousness of his plan, that women and children could be killed, and that he could back out, but he told agents: "Since I was 15 I thought about all this;" and "It's gonna be a fireworks show ... a spectacular show." Source

Another terrorist is off the streets, but I am sure President Obama's critics will shrug this off as much ado about nothing. Mohamud is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday.

So, former President George W. Bush fell off his bike and I believe Bill Clinton also kissed the ground during his presidency, so it's not terribly surprising for President Obama to suffer a boo-boo on the basketball court. According to media reports, the White House said President Obama received 12 stitches in his lip after being hit during a pick up basketball game. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said he was "inadvertently" struck by someone's elbow Friday. Er, was it really inadvertently or is a close friend or family member ticked off with him too? Well, I'm sure it wasn't done on purpose and the media will have a field day with the choice of words used by Robert Gibbs.

Mario Bernard Johnson of Memphis, TN, was arrested this morning after complaints from other shoppers at a Wal-Mart Supercenter that he wore his pants too low and his red underwear was showing. Yuk. That's a sight for sore eyes and not the first thing people want to see early in the morning. 

Instead of pulling his pants up like any decent human being would do, even though most men I know wouldn't be caught dead wearing their pants in such a manner, Johnson became verbally abusive and even engaging in finger-pointing, according to the Commercial Appeal.

When the officer saw the man again as customers stood in line, his pants were low and tensions rose with profanity, loud talk and finger pointing. Police arrested the man about 5:30 a.m., according to court documents.

They charged Mario Bernard Johnson, who had a Memphis address among others listed in court records, with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. Johnson was held in Shelby County Jail on $500 bond. Source: Commercial Appeal

The last thing I want to look at first thing in the morning in any store, is the underwear of another person. I don't get it why some of our young black men chose to attire themselves in such a manner. Besides the fact that one has to walk bow-legged to keep the pants up, it just seems like it takes an excessive amount of energy to keep the pants up. So, why bother?

Travis Lorenzo Berrian Wanted for Police Questioning After Bodies of Two Teens, Angela Brooks & Nancy Cushman, Found in Augusta Woods

Black man, Travis Lorenzo Berrian, wanted for questioning in deaths of two SC teens, Angela Brooks & Nancy Cushman, whose bodies were found in wooded area in Augusta.

The bodies of two Aiken, SC, teens, Angela Brooks, 19, and Nancy Cushman, 18, were discovered in a wooded lot early Thursday morning in downtown Augusta, Ga. Police are searching for Travis Lorenzo Berrian, who is black. They said he was not a suspect and was wanted only for information. Right, we know what that means when cops utter such words. He's really a suspect.

Brooks and Cushman were shot and killed Thursday, according to sheriff's office investigators. Their bodies were found on the corner of Twiggs Street and Laney-Walker Boulevard about 2:30 a.m. by a passerby walking through the wooded area, according to a news release. Cushman and Brooks were last seen about 12:30 a.m. on East Boundary Street with an unknown black man. They were shot at least once, but Richmond County Sheriff's Capt. Scott Peebles said police were withholding the location and number of wounds.

Cushman's 1999 Cadillac Escalade was found abandoned at Second and Telfair streets shortly after the bodies were found. The release said police believe based on evidence recovered that the suspect or suspects likely drove the Escalade from the scene of the crime to where it was abandoned. Of course, the cops are saying Berrian isn't a suspect, but the Augusta Chronicle isn't shying away from letting his criminal record be known, as they should, particularly if the reasoning is that he may be a person of interest. It seems that he has a lengthy rap sheet: five years in prison & six years probation for aggravated assault; second-degree criminal damage to property and criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, according to The Augusta Chronicle archives. For me, race doesn't matter, crime is wrong and I hope they catch the perpetrator of these horrible acts.

UPDATE#1: Travis Lorenzo Berrian is no longer considered a person of interest. He is now a suspect in the execution-style killings and police are also searching for a second man who reportedly appeared in surveillance video released by investigators.

SHAME: A fight over a Facebook posting may have led to a stabbing in Toledo Thursday night. According to NBC24, Aaron Calhoun went to a home to confront a couple after they reportedly posted something about his sister, the police said.

Investigators say Calhoun was hit with a frying pan before being stabbed by Taresa O'Neal, 20. Calhoun was transported to Toledo Hospital with reportedly non-life threatening conditions. O'Neal and another man have been arrested. Source

Oops, she did it again! Sarah Palin has proven once again that she is a bumbling idiot. During an interview on Glenn Beck's syndicated radio show, trying to sound smart, she declared that the United States has to stand with "our North Korean allies." Er, so Kim Jong-Il is ally? Ahem, the co-host corrected her and said, South Korea. This wasn't a simple gaffe. It was an enormous blunder. Her gaffe has gone international with newspapers in Asia and Europe are repeating the criticism. The Times of India says Palin "did it again," while London's Daily Mail says she "may want to brush up on her geography." The conservative U.S. website The Weekly Standard came to Palin's defense, pointing out that "she correctly identified North Korea as our enemy literally eight seconds before the mix-up," according to media reports. Historically black Clark Atlanta University board of trustees and former president Walter Broadnax, under fire over his $1.1 million salary despite financial woes.

SHAME: A recent study of college and university presidents compensation by the Chronicle of Higher Education revealed that historically black Clark Atlanta University paid its former president, Walter Broadnax, $1,158,537 in 2008, the same year he retired. Broadnax was among the 30 highest-paid private-college presidents in America. This is shocking and disgusting because the university was plagued with a myriad of financial problems at that time. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Juanita Baranco, chairwoman of the university's board of trustees, said it was a good deal for the financially struggling school.

"The contractual payout amount was not out of line with the job we were asking Dr. Broadnax to do," board chairwoman Juanita Baranco said. "He came in and literally transformed the university, so the contract was a sound business judgment when we entered into it in 2002.. I do want to emphasize that this was a unique situation."

But an expert on compensation for college presidents said the deal appears to have been extraordinarily generous, and Clark Atlanta faculty say they've been unable find presidents at comparable schools who made comparable money. Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution

Sorry, but this overly generous compensation package warrants a look by the Internal Revenue Service. I can't understand how Ms. Baranco can justify such a hefty salary at the expense of the current students, faculty and alumni. Current students are being squeezed every side they turn in their quest to obtain a college education, while their presidents have hit pay-dirt at their expense. I guess being a college president at a private institution is another career path for many to consider.

Professor Cornel West Says President Obama's Policies as "Racist" as President George Bush's

Black professor, Cornel West, says President Barack Obama's policies as racist as former President George W. Bush.

Well, I guess we now know how Cornel West really feels about President Barack Obama. According to Firedoglake.com, he recently appeared on "Democracy Now," where he said President Obama's policies have the same racist effects as his predecessor George W. Bush's. Those are some really strong words coming from West. Yeah, let's just stay in the muck and ignore the real issues confronting people on Main Street.

Gonzalez had asked Prof. West to comment on Kanye West’s assertion that “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people;” but the professor diverted into criticism of the current Administration. He said he thinks neither Bush nor Obama acts out of “racist motivation and intention,” but that both Administrations inflict(ed) “racist effect and consequence” on people of color, and that their policies have “generated levels of misery among Black people, Brown people, Red people, but especially among the working class poor.”

Cornel West echoed Kanye West in rebuking Obama: “… He doesn’t care about the Black poor: The evidence is overwhelming! … His policies [a]re racist in effect and consequence and especially classist in terms of generating misery among poor people, disproportionately Black and Brown. … The Obama Administration seems to have very little concern about poor people and their social misery: Look at the policies vis-a-vis Wall Street – downplaying Main Street; look at the policies of Black Farmers – a settlement already in place but they don’t want to execute it because they don’t want to be associated with Black folk too explicitly; look at the policies of dilapidated housing; we can go right across the board – look at the policies of the new Jim Crow – the Prison-Industrial Complex.”

So, on one hand we have Republicans like Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Mike Savage, Laura Ingraham and many others, feel President Obama is prejudiced against white people. Now we have Cornel West accusing him of being prejudiced against blacks. Er, Houston, we have a problem.

Leopold McClean, Black NYPD Officer & Member of Mayor Bloomberg Security Detail, Accused of Shooting Gal Pal's Ex-Boyfriend

Leopold McLean, a member of New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg security detail, was fired from his cushy job after he allegedly shot his gal pal's ex-boyfriend while off duty. According to the New York Daily News, McLean, who was a 17-year veteran of the force, was placed on modified duty and stripped of his gun and badge after the incident.

Investigators are looking into circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether McLean lied about what happened, the sources said. A Queens grand jury is expected to hear the case.

The shooting happened after McLean's girlfriend summoned him to her Queens home because an ex-boyfriend kept calling and threatening to come over - in violation of a court order, sources said.

McLean, a member of the mayor's advance team but not a bodyguard, was at the house when the enraged ex showed up and things got heated, sources said. "There was a fight inside and it got taken outside," a police source said. Source: NY Daily News

Isn't there such a thing as walking away from a fight? Especially this Leopold McLean has so much at stake. It seems like he thought he could throw his weight around to scare this man off. She should have picked up the phone and called 911 to solve her problem, not call up a police officer buddy to straighten the mess out. Talk about a sense of entitlement.

Michael Brea, "Ugly Betty" actor, arrested in stabbing his mother, Yannick Brea, with Freemason ceremonial sword in Brooklyn home.

SHOCK: Michael Brea, who had appeared in "Ugly Betty," has been arrested in his mother's untimely death. According to the NY Post, Yannick Brea, was found in her Brooklyn apartment early Tuesday morning with multiple stab wounds. Michael was taken into police custody and later to a local hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. She was killed with a Freemason ceremonial sword after a strange religious diatribe, the police told the newspaper.

Cops were called to a domestic disturbance at the home earlier in the evening but left shortly thereafter. Neighbors Vernal Bent and his mother Phyllis said they heard yelling from the floor below between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. and called 911.

"I heard a shriek and a woman yelling 'help me'," Vernal Bent said. "We called 911 and we kept hearing screams and then we didn't hear them any more. Michael was chanting Biblical phrases and kept calling for Moses, Jerusalem and the 'architect of the universe'."

Police spent nearly 45 minutes trying to get into the apartment, Bent said. They left and returned with an emergency team, which broke into the home and found Yannick Brea fatally stabbed in a bedroom, sources said. Source: NY Post

Atlanta TSA Employee Randall Scott King Accused of Kidnapping & Sexually Assaulting Woman

TSA employee, Randall Scott King, accused of kidnapping woman from parking lot at Atlanta airport & sexually assaulting her at his Georgia home.

It's funny that a Transportation Safety Administration worker could be hospitalized in a botched suicide attempt, considering they are literally putting travelers through hell at U.S. airports. According to the La Grange Daily News, Randall Scott King, a TSA employee at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, remains hospitalized after being accused of kidnapping a young female co-worker from a parking lot at the airport and then taking her to his Hogansville home, where he sexually assaulted her.

The alleged victim said after the assault, she was released by her captor, who gave her a suicide note and instructions on where to deliver it. Union City police alerted Hogansville police about the incident early Thursday.

Hogansville officers obtained search warrants and found King at his residence with what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds. Police did not describe the type or extent of his wounds. King was airlifted to Columbus Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition this morning. Criminal warrants against King were obtained by MARTA and Hogansville police. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and I pray Mr. King will recuperate quickly so that he can face the music. His decision to commit suicide shows quite clearly that he knew he did something terrible to this woman. The TSA already has a black eye with the intrusive pat-downs and body-scans of passengers, now add kidnap and sexual assault to the mix.

UPDATE#1: This drama occurred last Wednesday after King took his co-worker to a Marta station where he bound her and took her to his home. She said after the assault he threatened to kill himself.

Uzbekistan Immigrant Ulubeck Khakimov Facing Domestic Violence Charges for Using House Key to Carve Epithets on Wife's Body

Uzbekistan immigrant Ulubeck Khakimov facing domestic violence charges for carving "bitch" and "whore" on wife's skin and threatening to kill her.

SHOCK: Ulubek Khakimov, an immigrant from Uzbekistan, was arrested after hospital workers at Coney Island Hospital found ugly slurs on the body of his wife, Ozodoa, as they prepped her for an emergency C-section. She said her husband carved the ugly slurs on her body, using various methods including using a house key to gouge out chunks of her flesh and then threatening to kill and her newborn baby, Muhammed Ali, according to the NY Daily News. Hospital staffers discovered the words "bitch" and "whore" carved on her body in Cyrillic, the alphabet of her country, the newspaper said. I am deeply saddened by the hell this woman has lived in. Love doesn't hurt. No it does not.

"He started beating me on the day of our wedding," Ozodoa Khakimov, 23, an immigrant from Uzbekistan, told the Daily News. "One time he wrote bad words on my leg, and another time with a key on my neck." Shocked hospital staffers called the NYPD, which sent over a cop who speaks Uzbek and translated her tale of horror. She described how her husband, Ulubek, 26, whom she married in Uzbekistan last December, had sliced the epithets into her skin before they came to U.S. - so he was not charged in connection with those.

But he used a key to carve up her chest, thighs, neck and stomach while the couple lived in Midwood, starting in August and as recently as last week, the victim said. "On top of that, he was beating me while I was pregnant," said Khakimov, adding that she stayed with her husband because "I thought he was my family." Just before midnight Friday, Ulubek Khakimov called his wife at the hospital and said he was coming there to kill her and the newborn, Muhammed Ali, court papers say. The news gets crazier by the day. If this isn't a case of domestic violence, then I don't know what else is. Simply disgraceful. I hope she will start her life anew with her baby. I pray her husband will be deported once he is released from prison. If a man threatens to kill his wife, there's a good chance he will when threatened. He was charged with 27 counts of assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. This is such a shame.

It is a sad commentary when a parent slaps a referee at a soccer match. A Gainesville, Ga., woman is accused of slapping a referee, James Hayes, during a soccer match at Central Park, in which her daughter was playing. She was upset that the referee did not stop play when her 10 year old daughter was knocked down by a soccer ball during the game. The team the woman's child plays on a Lanier Sharks soccer team. The team should ban this woman and her kid from ever representing the club in any future games. The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, is reportedly 39 years old and I might add, a thug. Of course, she left the scene before deputies arrived and was not arrested. I know parents can get emotional during games, especially tournaments, but what has this parent taught her daughter? When she doesn't get her way it's okay to slap the person standing in her way. That's just wrong. Besides, the ref could not call timeout after the incident because the other team had control of the ball. Those are the rules and if parents don't know them, they should spend some time researching that information on the Internet before acting like a fool.

Shameful. Absolutely shameful but not surprising. According to media reports, witnesses said the referee assaulted by this thug had a bloody lip after the encounter. It was also reported that parents of another player on the same team were ejected by the same referee the day before for uncouth behavior. My two sons play soccer at United Futbol Academy that manages the Central Park fields, as well as some fields in South Forsyth and the Polo Fields, and they have played against some teams where the players were not only overly aggressive and rude, but the parents were just as aggressive. My older son played a game against the NGSA Rapids 97- CL III game at the North Georgia Soccer Association in Clarkesville, Ga., and I must say, I was beginning to get scared being in that area. The parents were rude and argumentative and some of the players were spitting at some of the kids on my son's team. That game was, by far, one of the worst I have ever attended and I was genuinely worried for our boys. Clarkesville is in the boondocks and not where I feel comfortable being as a black woman.

The behavior exhibited by that parent at the Central Park game continues unchecked at soccer matches across this city. Maybe the referees don't get slapped, but some are belittled, when they make questionable calls or fail to make calls. Some parents have lost sight of the intent of these games -- for the kids to have fun. The reality this isn't limited to soccer, but to all sports, including football. I hope the referee will press charges against this woman and not let this go. She should be banned from attending any more games. It is time for a strong message to be sent to these parents. They take the fun out of the whole experience. How can you teach your child to be competitive, but respectful and fair, when you are assaulting someone? As they say, the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree and I can well see what will happen to this child if her mother doesn't change her ways.

The criminals running loose in Atlanta are becoming bolder and bolder. Charles D. Boyer died after being shot in the chest by masked gunmen late Monday in the Virginia-Highlands area of the city. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Boyer and a woman were confronted by three robbers in the parking lot of an apartment on Virginia Avenue. A confrontation ensued and Boyer was shot multiple times. The dirtbags reportedly stole the woman's purse and cell phone before running away.

Just yesterday a news story surfaced detailing how much more brazen the criminals in Atlanta have become, even using tow trucks to steal cars. The crime wave is spreading to affluent suburbs in the metropolitan area such as Roswell, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Alpharetta. When we moved here in 1999, the crime was generally concentrated on the southern side of the city, but the cheaper rents in some apartments in such sections of the northern suburbs have made these areas easier to target. It is not right and not fair that thugs would have the hubris to take what isn't theirs and to kill their victims in the process.

PA Man William Kimmel, 64, Charged in Brutal Beating of 70 Year Old Wife Sandra Kimmel

SHOCK: William Kimmel, 64, of Bethlehem, PA., brutally beat his 70 year old wife, Sandra Kimmel, Friday night and left her in a pool of blood inside their home for more than a day, according to philly.com.

Police say a weak-voiced Sandra Kimmel called police Sunday morning saying she'd been attacked. When officers arrived, they say William Kimmel said his wife was sleeping upstairs. Authorities say Sandra Kimmel's eyes were swollen shut and she was bleeding from a gash on her head when officers found her.

Police say Sandra Kimmel said her husband pummeled her after she returned from playing cards at a senior center. William Kimmel is being held on $200,000 bail. Source: Philly.com

What's sad is that domestic violence knows no race, creed, sexual orientation or socioeconomic level. It is such an ugly and vicious act of violence perpetrated by a spouse or significant other. The last thing I would expect to hear is that a 64 year old man would beat his 70 year old wife. Domestic violence in any shape or form is unconscionable. Sorry, but William Kimmel needs to rot in prison for his actions.

The polls don't bode too great for Obama either. A plurality of Americans don't think he deserves to be re-elected to a second term. Still, I would vote for Obama before I would vote for Sarah Palin. Sorry, she and her kin would singlehandedly make the U.S. a laughingstock both nationally and on an international scale.

I try my hardest not to use profanity on my blog, but what Atlanta resident Mr. Bobby Smith is accused of doing doesn't put him in a positive light. In fact, he's a f**king a**hole. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, he was arrested for aggravated assault and reckless conduct Monday morning for allegedly firing several shots at another driver during an apparent case of rush hour road rage. The other driver, Mikos Wright, is also a f**king a**hole. He, too, was arrested and was charged with reckless conduct and reckless driving.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on I-285 southbound near Langford Parkway, according to Atlanta police. Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said that Mikos Wright called 911 to report that a man in a silver Lexus fired several shots at his Dodge Ram pickup truck.

“Mr. Wright said that he heard a ‘pop’ and thought he had a flat tire,” the report stated. “Mr. Wright said he noticed the driver of the silver Lexus, later identified as Mr. Bobby Smith, was pointing a black handgun at him.” Wright told police that Smith, 55, then fired three shots into the passenger’s side door of his truck. “Wright said he then swerved his vehicle to the right and struck the silver Lexus,” the report stated.

Smith told investigators that Wright was driving aggressively and that he was in the right-hand travel lane and Wright was in the lane to his left when “the Dodge Ram began merging into his lane of travel,” forcing Smith into the emergency lane. Source: AJC

What's even more disgraceful is the fact that these two men, acting as though they were in the Wild West, tied up rush hour traffic for nearly two hours Monday morning. People have cut me off on the road and some have even driven too closely to me, but dang, I never thought to carry a gun in my car, much less pull it out and start firing!

Florida Man Commits Suicide After Going on Shooting Rampage Killing Live-in Girlfriend, Critically Wounding Kids

SHOCK: A Florida man when on a shooting rampage killing his live-in girlfriend and critically wounding three of her four children before killing himself Saturday night.

Police responded to a call at 11:20 p.m. and found a wounded 10-year-old boy, who had gone to a neighbor's for aid. Hearing gunshots, they called in a SWAT team. Police found the bodies of the adult male and female and a 14-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy, both shot. A 2-year-old boy at the scene was unhurt. The victims have not been named as police try to contact the next of kin.

Pons said the couple and the children ``lived together as a family at that home,'' and the shooting came after a domestic dispute. The man grabbed a gun, shot the victims, and then turned the gun on himself, police said. Source: CBS 4

Alice Eleanor Williams, elderly Soperton, Ga., woman bludgeoned to death during home invasion by two teens, Jordan Jamal Nobles, 18, and 15 year old.

It is a sad turn of events when people prey on the elderly. There is absolutely no reason for two Georgia teenagers to murder an 88-year-old woman. None whatsover. According to Macon.com, Jordan Jamal Nobles, 18, and a 15 year old teen have been arrested in the bludgeoning death of Alice Eleanor Williams in her Soperton, Ga., home. The teens have been charged with murder and burglary. This is the second brutal murder of an elderly person I have covered in a few short weeks. We blogged about the vicious stabbing death of elderly Jamaican retiree Hortense McNeil.

A caretaker discovered Alice Elanor Williams dead at her home on Eastman Highway in Treutlen County about 9:15 a.m. Thursday after the caretaker arrived to help prepare Williams’ breakfast, said Greg Harvey, the special agent in charge of the GBI’s Eastman office.

Williams appeared to have been killed during a home invasion and armed robbery. She sustained injuries from a severe bludgeoning, Harvey said. “The house was ransacked,” he said. Harvey described Williams as a woman who didn’t leave her home much. The incident could have started out as a burglary with the teenagers believing no one was at home, he said. Source: Macon.com

Pundits and pollsters are trying to figure out what’s next in Washington. Voters were simply expressing their desire to be heard by their representatives and policymakers – their message was simple – fix the economy! Yet a recent article in Politico indicates that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will continue to push regulations that most agree put the future of the Internet at risk – all this without creating or saving jobs or otherwise helping to grow our struggling economy.

The reality is that Main Street America is in the middle of a pretty rough patch. With high unemployment rates and low levels of confidence that are hitting our communities of color exceptionally hard, what every day Americans want is to see Washington working for them - they want to see more jobs and signs of our economic recovery. This is where we should be focused.

The Internet has great potential in these unfortunately tough times, playing a key role in adding jobs and supporting economic development as well as making the goal of universal broadband a reality for an increasing number of minorities who use advanced wireless technologies. Expanding net neutrality principles to include wireless is simply shortsighted particularly at a time when further setbacks can be extremely damaging to communities that are buried in debt and desperately trying to make ends meet. For the FCC to consider any regulation that moves beyond the principles laid out by Rep. Waxman would be a big mistake.

At this critical time, any and all efforts should be focused on our recovery. Achieving universal broadband access is a key piece to the recovery puzzle and therefore, the FCC should focus their efforts on ensuring a framework that incentivizes the private investment, deployment and that will ultimately lead to 100 percent adoption.

NJ Pastor Cedric Miller, Who Called for Church Leaders to Ban Facebook, Had Three-Way Sexual Affair

Black NJ pastor Cedric Miller, who told church leaders to delete Facebook & social networking accounts because they are a portal to infidelity or step down, had three-way sex affair.

Remember the pastor who called for leaders in his church to delete their Facebook and social networking media accounts or step down. The Rev. Cedric Miller to be exact. Well, it seems that he has some skeletons in his closet and guess what? He didn't need Facebook to be a part of a ménage à trois and then some, a decade ago with his wife and a male church member, who was also married. Another pastor saying do as I say but not as I do. According to the Asbury Park Press, Miller said Facebook is a portal to infidelity. Pastor Miller seems to have forgotten that testimony he gave in a criminal case was public information and any journalist could dig it up and use it against him.

Miller, pastor of the 1,100-member Living Word Christian Fellowship Church on Route 35, admitted in his testimony to a sexual relationship that included his wife and a church assistant. Sometimes the assistant's wife was present, he testified. The testimony was given in connection with a criminal case against the assistant that was eventually dismissed.

"It has come to my attention that a very painful part of my past has resurfaced,'' Miller said in an e-mail response Friday, stating that the same testimony was mailed to his church leaders and other pastors a number of years ago. "This was resolved at that time and accordingly we will not allow it to detract from our mission at hand to save as many marriages as we can,'' Miller wrote.

In his testimony on April 15, 2003, Miller said his wife had an extramarital affair with a church assistant and that he (Miller) said he was present at many of their meetings. And sometimes the assistant's wife was present, Miller said."We would talk and laugh and play and just beyond what was appropriate,'' he testified. Pressed by a defense lawyer to give more detail about what Miller meant by saying "we had crossed the line many times,'' the pastor said: "I mean between the four of us. It was just, I mean there was touching, there was … it was crazy, it was as wrong as wrong could get. Yes.''"Okay, it was sex, correct?'' the lawyer asked."Yes,'' Miller said. I know the pastor deserves a second chance, but there is a saying that is so appropriate in this situation: "if live in glass house, don't throw stones."  If this pastor had not called for a ban on Facebook the lurid details of his adulterous sexual escapades would have been kept under wraps. Now he comes across as a hypocrite who has no problem being a swinger. The reality is that neither he nor his wife need to lead a church. One can only wonder what goes on behind closed doors in their home.

UPDATE#1: Pastor Miller, with his wife Kim Miller at his side on Sunday, offered to resign from his senior leadership role at the church if church leaders found him unfit to serve. He apologized for what he said was a foolish transgression from his past. Er, he's no better than Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard, or all the other pastors who have fallen from grace due to sexual improprieties. How could he possibly think attacking Facebook would justify or nullify his past transgressions? It should be noted that Facebook doesn't break up marriages, but some people who use the social networking platform for all the wrong reasons. How many decent men, especially a pastor, would watch their wives have sex with another man and join in? 

I am also shaking my head over the blind devotion some black congregants have for their pastors, as though they can do no wrong. Let's see, Ted Haggard was forced to step down. Jim Bakker faced charges and was disgraced. Eddie L. Long, Paul Lewis, Jamal Bryant and Cedric Miller want to be embraced and what they are accused of doing should be shrugged off. Give me a break. The sexual transgressions of black clergy is often swept under a rug at black churches. Why?

UPDATE#2 (11/25/10): Pastor Miller said he is temporarily stepping down from the pulpit following his admission that he engaged in a three-way sexual relationship a decade ago. He said the church members gave him a vote of confidence with restrictions, which he declined to disclose in a recent interview. He claims he will return in the near future. Now, if only the other black churches facing sexual scandals involving their pastors could do the same thing and force them out. Bishop Eddie L. Long and Jamal Bryant come to mind.

Lack of Broadband Access an Impediment to Improving Public Education and Bridging Lack of Performance in Low-Income & Largely Black Communities

Monday, November 8th marked the start of National Distance Learning Week, an event that brings together organizations, schools and businesses to discuss the rising trend and the role of distance learning in our modern society. For far too long, there has been a divide in our education system, meaning there is a great disparity between the quality and intensity of education that is available to our youth at various socio-economic levels. As a result, we have gaps in school performance between under-funded and under-achieving schools in low-income, largely minority communities and their affluent suburban counterparts. We also have a fundamental gap between the test scores of American students and students in the top performing schools worldwide, especially in science and math.

At ADE, we believe that broadband is potentially one of the greatest innovations for improving public education and bridging this gap – but unfortunately there are millions of Americans who still lack access. As a result, these youth fall far behind – both nationally and globally – as the price of digital exclusion becomes even greater with the release of new and advanced technologies. The status quo is not just disappointing, it is simply unacceptable. This is why ADE decided to take action, and launched the Learning Without Walls (LearningWOW) initiative. LearningWOW provides students laptop and desktop computers with Internet connectivity so that students can have access to the program – including online homework assistance, access to live tutors and afterschool programs – within and beyond the walls of the classroom. The initiative is aimed at enhancing student performance, literacy and self-esteem while enabling families to obtain the career development services they need to thrive and remain competitive professionally.

ADE first launched the LearningWOW initiative in North Clayton County Middle School in Clayton County, GA in 2009 after Georgia’s Clayton County Public Schools became the first district in 40 years to lose its accreditation. The school district was in need of a new and innovative approach and ADE stepped up to the challenge. One year later we are pleased to report that as a result of this partnership, LearningWOW students in Clayton County have flourished both inside and outside of the classroom, proving that access to mobile broadband services is critical for students to achieve their maximum potential. Notable achievements include LearningWOW Female Academy students reporting higher average Georgia CRCT scale scores than the district and in the state in several subjects and LearningWOW Male Academy students have surpassed the district in English Language Arts.

LearningWOW students reported higher average scale scores than a comparison group of male and female academy students in five content area tests and the LearningWOW male students had the best attendance rate in the school at 98 percent! These results clearly demonstrate what can happen when we deliver real-time solutions to communities who have far less than adequate access to mainstream broadband technology – and it is great. As we look forward to replicating this program in more schools throughout Georgia, we hope that others will look at this example and recognize broadband as the great equalizer that can make this country stronger. Also, we hope that federal policymakers can resist the pressure to impose policies that would only stifle our growing digital community. LearningWOW is proof of the power of broadband to improve student achievement outcomes and to change lives. We need Congress to spearhead sensible legislation that helps to make broadband a reality for the millions currently not connected.

The benefits of technology for our youth and for our improved education system, as well as for empowering all Americans, are clear. We must continue on the path of growing broadband access and fostering technological advancement if we want to ensure we all have happier, healthier and more prosperous lives.

Bishop Eddie Long & Accusers to Face Each Other as Sexual Coercion Trial Set for July 7, Mediation to Occur in February

For anyone who cares, lawyers met at a DeKalb County courtroom Friday to plot the next steps in the gay sexual allegations against megachurch Bishop Eddie Long. According to WSB-TV,  a judge tentatively set a trial date for July 7, while a mediation session was scheduled for February. You will recall four black men -- Spencer LeGrande, Maurice Robinson, Jamal Parris and Anthony Flagg -- filed lawsuits against Long, accusing him of coercing them into having sexual relationships with him while they were teens at his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Lawyers from both sides said they will be calling up experts, according to WSB-TV. It wasn’t decided whether the different cases will be tried separately or if they will be tried together. No matter how you view this, any trial promises to be shocking and embarrassing. I hope cameras will be allowed in the courtroom, if it really goes to trial.

First Lady Michelle Obama to unveil new initiative as part of "Let's Move" campaign that could bring up to 5,000 salad bars in U.S. schools.

I applaud First Lady Michelle Obama for recognizing we have an epidemic in this country where weight is concerned, particularly obesity among school aged children. But I have one problem with this initiative. She is expected to announce a new initiative that is expected to place up to 5,000 salad bars in public schools nationwide. Herein lies the problem I have: how will food safety be ensured? Yeah, I can see a sick kid sneezing all over the food at the salad bar. That's okay. I'll take a pass on this one where my kids are concerned. Still, one has to wonder how local health inspectors deal with these salad bars, in as far as the new nutrition-tracking rules are concerned.

Officials in the White House, led by chef Sam Kass, and at the U.S. Centers for Disease and Prevention, have been working to build a coalition representing the produce industry and Ann Cooper, director of nutrition services in Boulder, Colo. schools, who recently teamed with Whole Foods to raise $1.4 million from customers to establish a grant program that would place salad bars in qualifying schools.

Under the initiative expected to be announced on Monday in Florida, where First Lady Michelle Obama has taken her "Let's Move" campaign to fight childhood obesity, Cooper would manage applications for salad bars from the schools along with distribution of funds to purchase necessary equipment.

Cooper named three school districts she knows of -- Philadelphia, Austin, Tex., and Montgomery County, Md., -- that have already indicated they will not support salad bars. Concerns have been raised that elementary school children in particular might be prone to spread disease at salad bars because they are too short for the standard "sneeze guard" installed on most salad bars, or because they might use their hands instead of the serving utensils provided. There are more problems with this initiative. How will they deal with portion-control? Will there be a cafeteria employee charged with standing by the salad bar? I shudder to think that this will be another bill for taxpayers like me to foot. Why not start with educating parents on healthy food choices? The reality is that nothing is ever done according to the book when the government gets involved.
