URGENT: 5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits the Cayman Islands

URGENT: 5.8 magnitude earthquake hits the Cayman Islands. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake hit 9:23 a.m. The quake struck about 32 miles east-southeast of Bodden Town in the center of the southern coast of Grand Cayman Island. The depth was the earthquake was 6.2 miles (10 km) and east-southeast of George Town, Cayman Islands. Cayman Islands is 195 miles west of Montego Bay, Jamaica and 215 miles south of Cienfuegos, Cuba.

There have been some reports that telephone lines appear to have been affected throughout the region's islands, but there have been no injuries. Nonetheless, this is rattling the nerves of the people in the Caribbean. It is also interesting to note that the fault line that the earthquake ran along in the Cayman Islands isn't the same one as the earthquake that struck Haiti.
