Don "Moose" Lewis Pushes His All-White Basketball League, to Be Based in Atlanta

I have heard of some really ridiculous stories, but this one takes the cake. According to the Augusta Chronicle, a new professional basketball league is in the works and will be based in Atlanta -- an all-white basketball team. The All-American Basketball Alliance issued a news release saying that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team. The release, according to the Chronicle, states “Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league.” Don "Moose" Lewis, the so-called commissioner of this ridiculous league had the hubris to say that the "reasoning behind the league's roster restrictions is not racism." “There’s nothing hatred about what we’re doing,” he said. “I don’t hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here’s a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like.”

He did say one thing that I agree with on some levels.  He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas’ indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans’ dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run. The reality is that a few bad apples don't spoil the whole barrel. Of course he prefaced that statement by saying "he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of “street-ball” played by “people of color.”This should be well received by the racists in our midst. This hogwash won't fly.

There's more to this ridiculous story. CLICK HERE to read the rest of the article in the Chronicle.
