Up to late Tuesday afternoon, members of the police hierarchy were locked in a strategy meeting. Head of the Area One police, Acting Commissioner Denver Frater, who spoke to us briefly from a meeting, confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that they are taking the threats seriously. It would be a devastating blow to tourism if this gun violence spread to the Montego Bay area. The time has come for Jamaica to rid itself of the gangs wreaking havoc all across the island.
ACP Frater added that preparations are in high gear to safeguard the men and women based in Area One. Ten stations, two police posts and officer barracks are in St. James. Source: Radio Jamaica
