Apparent Murder-Suicide Occur at Old Navy Store in the Loop in Chicago

I literally cringe every time I hear about domestic violence. This morning, a young man, reportedly in his 20s walked into an Old Navy store in Chicago's Loop and shot his girlfriend multiple times before turning the gun on himself. The gunfire sent shoppers running for their lives. The names of the gunman and the victim have not been released.

The shooting took place around 11 a.m. in the basement of the store at the corner of State and Washington, said Chicago Police News Affairs Lt. Maureen Biggane. "The boyfriend goes into the store and starts shooting," one source said.

Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Eugene Williams said the man and woman were found in a restricted area open only to employees. He said the woman worked at the store. Source: Chicago Tribune
This tragedy comes on the heels of the death of Yeardley Love, a University of Virginia senior, who was killed by her boyfriend George Huguely. This is a sad turn of events. For anyone who is experiencing domestic violence, please tell someone. There is help out there. Don't bear this alone and think it will stop. It will only end in tragedy.
