Crime Wave Continues in Jamaica as 5-Year Old Evan Sebastian Spencer Murdered as He Slept

Evan Sebastian Spencer, 5, murdered as he slept in bed, bringing total homicides to 546 on the island of Jamaica for this year.

I was shocked beyond words to learn that Evan Sebastian Spencer, 5, was murdered in his home in Clarendon, Jamaica, Sunday. What is equally shocking is that his murder brings the homicide toll in Jamaica to 546 and we're only in the month of May. To make matters worse, Spencer's murder was one of nine in one weekend as the violence continues unchecked. What is the Jamaican government doing to stem this horrific and unchecked rise in crime? Do they really think tourists will feel at home on vacation on the island? This isn't the Jamaica I knew and where I received an educational foundation second to none.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, May Pen police said the child was left at home at about 2:30 a.m., while his father went to a store. Shortly thereafter, a man was seen fleeing the house. When the father went into the home, he reported found his son dead, with his throat slashed. How can anyone hurt a child? This precious little boy didn't deserve this. No way. The dirtbag that did this to him should be stoned to death. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning. This is the second murder of a five-year old child on the island in four days. Christina Salmon of Rose Heights, St. James, was shot to death by armed thugs. This is a disgrace and cannot continue unchecked. No way. This is barbaric and beyond words.
