Military Chaplain Steven Frank Michalke Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Repeated Sexual Assault of Daughter Over Period of Seven Years

Military chaplain Steven Frank Michalke sentenced to life in prison without parole for sexually assaulting daughter over a period of seven years, will also be tried by the military.

Steven Frank Michalke, a military chaplain, has been convicted of having sexual relations with his daughter over a period of seven years. He will spend the rest of his life in prison, with no chance at ever being paroled. According to the Douglas County Sentinel, Michalke pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of aggravated child molestation, incest and enticing a child for indecent purposes. He will be turned over to the military where he will be tried a second time.
“This is without a doubt one of the worst cases of child molestation that I have seen in all my 30 years of doing this,” said Douglas County District Attorney David McDade. “He deserves to die in prison and let God deal with him after that.” Michalke was indicted on the charges in September of last year, but according to McDade, the acts spanned for more than a decade, with the man who was a lieutenant colonel molesting a daughter from the time she was 6 until she was in her teens. The indictment, which outlines the charges, is too graphic to list in detail. But over an extended period, including a time in Douglas County between May 1, 2008, and June 26, 2008, investigators learned through letters, interviews and other means that Michalke engaged in various acts that included incest, sodomy and others. I have no words to adequately express how reprehensible Chaplain Steven Michalke's actions towards his daughter have been. He is married and the couple has four other children.
