Palmer, who is currently on probation for driving without a valid license, is scheduled to make her first court appearance Monday morning. Judge James Hankinson has been assigned to her case.  According to the Tallahasee Democrat, Shannon Washington and Starquineshia Palmer were in a domestic relationship. Domestic violence cuts across all socioeconomic levels, gender and ethnicity.

Washington, a Sarasota, Fla. native, recently transferred from Illinois Valley Community College. She was recently inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Shannon Washington.

UPDATE#1: The family of Shannon Washington is speaking out. Here's a comment from an aunt:
Starquineshia Palmer was denied bond this morning, as should be the case. I read that her mother is defending her as well. As they say, the fruit never falls far from the tree, does it? Starquineshia, what kind of name is that? Well, she's going to be somebody's "star" in prison because that's going to be her home for the rest of her life, if the prosecutors have their way.
