A 19 year old black Houston man, Christian Daniels, put in leg shackles and arrested for showing up to jury duty late, after mistakenly initially going to wrong courtroom.
Most people get a little irritated when they receive a jury summons in the mail, but most generally carry out their civic obligation and appear in court, just like
Christian Daniels, a young black Houston man. One problem for Daniels -- he ended up in leg restraints because he showed up late for jury duty. According to
KHOU, Daniels called his plight a honest mistake. He said he reported to jury duty around 8 a.m. Wednesday and thought someone directed him to what turned out to be the wrong courtroom, where he stayed there for about two hours before he realized he was in the wrong place, KHOU said. He said when he finally went to the correct courtroom, the "officer placed shackles on my feet" and he was charged with failing to show up for jury duty. The case was later dismissed. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
