University of Tennessee Book Store Pulls Novelty Candies, "DisappointMints" Poking Fun at Obama from Shelves After State Rep. Joe Armstrong Complained

University of Tennessee bookstore management pulls novelty candy mocking President Obama from shelves -- "This is change? DisappointMints." -- after state Rep. Joe Armstrong says they were offensive.

DisappointMints -- breath mints being sold at the University of Tennessee's bookstore poking fun at President Obama has been pulled. State Rep. Joe Armstrong, a Democrat, reportedly said the bookstore's decision to sell candies mocking President Obama "stinks." According to Knox News, he said he found the satirical mints offensive. The can of mints has a blue and red image of Obama with the words: "This is change? Disappointmints."

"When you operate on state and federal dollars, you ought to be sensitive to those type of politically specific products," Armstrong said. "If it was a private entity or corporation or store, (that's different), but this is a state university. We certainly don't want in any way to put the university in a bad light by having those political (products), particularly aimed at defaming the president." Source: Knox News
Well, I won't get bent out of shape over a box of mints. Big deal. Is this all we have to worry about? There are a lot of people asking the same question of President Obama is this the change we signed up for? Joblessness, inflation, debt hanging around our necks and our children's necks, high foreclosure rates, high food and gas prices, etc. The least of my worries and yours should be over a $2.99 box of mints poking fun at Obama. As long as it's not racist, then what's the problem?
