Jahnya Ware, 7, was shot and killed in the Little Haiti section of Miami, after a gunman opened fire on the car she was riding in. The shooting occurred Friday night when the child, her mother and two other people were on their way to a Wendy's restaurant for food shortly before 9 p.m., according to the Miami Herald. Paramedics were at first reportedly able to revive Jahnya, but she died on the way to the hospital.
As they drove down Northeast Miami Place around 64th Terrace, at least one person armed with an assault rifle opened fire from another car. Police say the car was targeted, but that the girl was not the intended victim.

Bullets sprayed the Impala, striking Jahnya. The 25-year-old driver was also hit in the back of the neck, said police, who did not release her name. The burst of gunfire brought John Henry, 28, to the window of his apartment building. ``It was probably 12 or 13 seconds of straight rapid fire,'' he said. Source: Miami Herald
