Spike Lee Gives "30 Rock" Star Tracy Morgan Standing Ovation as Audience Members Walk Out of his Bawdy Carnegie Hall Show

According to the NY Daily News, Tracy Morgan's performance at Carnegie Hall Friday was a disgrace and many patrons walked out in disgust. I guess many expected his "30 Rock" character's prime time humor, but what they got was simply filthy. President and Mrs. Obama weren't off limits either. He said, "Obama is really changing the White House, because he and Michelle will have the first presidential sex tape out.”  Morgan reportedly talked about homosexuality, saying "it's a choice;" drugs, pornography and what he dubs "politricks." These are far more edgier subjects than his alter ego Jordan gets to talk about on "30 Rock."

Here's the most troubling part of this show for me. Spike Lee, who was very critical of Tyler Perry's movies, was in the audience and gave Morgan a standing ovation. Wow. So, Spike Lee had no issue with the denigration of gays and lesbians or the disparaging remarks about President Obama and his wife's sex life, but he has a big problem with Perry's movies portraying blacks as coons and buffoons. John Singleton and Jane Krakowski, from "30 Rock," also gave Morgan a standing ovation.

Here are some of his tamer one-liners during the show:
  • “Michael could molest the sh*t out of me and I’m a grown man. I would brag about that sh*t on the corner.”
  • “Barack probably had Michelle in the window doggy-style. ‘Yes, Mr. President, yes Mr. President.’”
  • “Everybody knows white boys can’t dance. Motherf**kers look like toddlers and sh*t.” (Cue: toddler dance).
  • On getting in trouble for gay humor, “If you can take a d**k, you can take a joke.”
