Iraqi war veteran Colby Bohannan launches scholarship program for white males only because they "are excluded when they apply to college."
The Former Majority Association for Equality has launched a college scholarship for white males, who it claims is now an underrepresented demographic in society. Right. The group plans to give grants of $500 to any man from Texas who is at least 25 percent Caucausian, has good grades and can demonstrate that they are in need. It would be interesting to hear what our so-called civil rights leaders have to say about this. I mean people like Revs. Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton. This amounts to pure bullsh*t.This is an attempt to divide us once again. For those people who believe that scholarships or grants for women, blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Middle Easterners are similar, come again. From a historical perspective, blacks were denied basic rights in this country and the government had to step in to make sure we were being treated fairly and could get an education. The last time I checked, it is so much easier for a white male to climb the corporate ladder that he isn't in need of a hand-out.
Its founder Colby Bohannan claims whites feel ‘excluded’ when they apply to college and that they are ‘left out’ when it comes to funding.Mr. Bohannan, take a good look around and you will see who is in charge in this country. How many corporations have a woman, Hispanic, black, Asian or a Middle Easterner at its helm. How many of our elected officials are anything other than a white male? How many black, Latino or Asian presidents of the United States have we had? This is pure racist bullsh*t and I hope no-one takes this wingnut seriously. Here's my parting shot -- we aren't going back to the days when blacks were denigrated, lynched and beaten. No matter how hard these people on the fringe long for those days, believe me, it won't be the same. You're dealing with a different mindset this time around and it's one that runs through the veins of ALL blacks in this country.
The provocative move risks a backlash by anti-racism groups but college officials in Texas have said there is little they can do to prevent it.
Mr Bohannan, a former Texas State University student and Iraq veteran, said the group was named because of the idea that ‘if you're not a male, and if you're not white, you're called a minority’. ‘I'm not sure white males are the majority any more,’ he said. ‘If everyone else can find scholarships, why are we left out?’
He added that the group is not taking a stance on affirmative action and has denounced racism.
‘It's time in our society to look at the way our culture views race,’ he said. ‘It's time to give everyone an equal shot.’
FMAFE plans to offer four $500 scholarships to any college, inside Texas or outside the state, for the forthcoming academic year. So far it has raised more than $1,600. Source: UK Mail
