Have you seen this man? Women in Detroit are on edge since a serial rapist may be loose on the streets. According to Detroit News, Police Chief Ralph Godbee said today forensic evidence has been sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab in the case of a man suspected of sexually assaulting seven women and attempting an eighth this month on the city's northeast side. He wouldn't say what piece of evidence they have in their possession. Here's my question -- how come the cops waited until more than one woman was attacked before redeploying resources. It is a sad commentary that we can spend $1 million per soldier in Afghanistan to protect people who basically don't want us there, but we can't protect women on the streets.
"We're not going to let this monster cripple us," he said at a morning press conference. Crime Stoppers also received 28 tips over the weekend and is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, said John Broad, the tip line's president. Detroit police have arrested nine young men in the alleged attack areas for various offenses. They are all being considered persons of interests in the case, Godbee said.
The sexual assaults have occurred since Jan. 1, between 7:40 p.m. and 6:15 a.m., police said. The women — ages 17 to 33 years old and all Detroit residents but one — were alone at the time of the attacks and most of the victims were walking near a bus stop. Most of the women were then taken to another location where they were assaulted and then released, police said.

It is a sad commentary that female motorists in Detroit are on notice that they can't stop when and if someone bumps into their cars, just in case the rapist is the person behind the wheel of another car. The bottom line is that women living alone must learn how to protect themselves. We must take back our streets from thugs and degenerates like this rapist. I implore anyone in Detroit who knows who this man is, please call the police and turn him in. We don't need a person of this ilk running around and wreaking havoc in any community. The police department must be willing and able to deploy resources in these communities and not just giving all their attention to the more affluent communities in the Motor City. We can't lose our streets to thugs. No way.
