Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer David Moore dies from gunshot wounds after being allegedly shot by Thomas Hardy.
Another police officer has died in the line of duty. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer David Moore, 29, succumbed to injuries suffered last weekend during a routine traffic stop. According to the Indianapolis Star, Officer Moore was pronounced dead this morning at Wishard Memorial Hospital after being removed from life support.Thomas Hardy, 60, was arrested for the shooting. Surprise, surprise -- Hardy is a convicted felon, a violent one at that. He was arrested on preliminary charges of robbery and being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm, the IndyStar said. Police said the preliminary charges, both felonies, were for a Sunday morning robbery of the Dollar General store, the newspaper also reported.
Moore, an IMPD patrol officer since 2004, was shot four times — twice in the face — during a traffic stop on Sunday morning on the Near Northside, near 34th Street and North Temple Avenue. He had been in a coma in the intensive care unit since then. Moore also was shot in the hip; a fourth bullet to his chest was stopped by his protective vest. A brain scan conducted Tuesday revealed that he had lost most brain function. Source: IndyStarIt seems like our law enforcement officers are under siege by the worst humanity has to offer. How did a convicted felon get his hands on a gun? Easy. Therein lies the problem. Too many guns on the streets in the wrong hands.
