Las Vegas Police Issue Jaywalking Citation to Comatose 13 YO Takara Davis as She Fights for Her Life

Comatose 13 year old Takara Davis given citation for jaywalking by Las Vegas police, while she fights for her life in the hospital after being hit by car.

Las Vegas police have ticketed, Takara Davis, a comatose 13 year old girl for jaywalking. Okay, so it's okay for criminals to roam the streets and get a slap on the wrist, but the police choose to enforce the law on a child who is fighting for her life. According to KLAS-TV, Davis was hit by a car on her way home from school.
Recounting what a police officer told her, Kellie Obong, Davis' mom, said giving her the ticket at the hospital was in poor taste. "He said, 'Takara was jaywalking. She has got to go to court on March 6th,'" Obong said. "If she was jaywalking, then she was jaywalking. But maybe you give it to me at a later time. Don't give it to me when they are rushing her into the operating room." The Las Vegas Police Department defended its officers in a statement. "We wouldn't do anything deliberately insensitive," the statement said. Witnesses said Davis was trying to catch up with friends when she was crossing the street. Source: NY Daily News
This is coming from the same police department that allowed Paris Hilton to be afforded the opportunity to be arrested in an "unbecoming" manner. Never mind the fact that Takara has been in a medically induced coma since the accident on Tuesday. Maybe the police officer felt he had to issue a ticket, but did they have to do it at the hospital?
