Torry Hansen Returns Adopted Child, Artyom Saveliev, 8, to Russia Because She Didn't Like Him

Artyom Saveliev, an eight year old Russian boy, returned alone, like a "pair of shoes" to native country by adoptive mother, Torry Hansen, because she didn't like him.

I have never understood why so many people in the United States adopt children from other countries, when there are thousands of children in this country waiting to be adopted. Well this latest case is just sick. According to Pravda.ru, Torry Hansen, a U.S. woman, adopted a little boy, Artyom Saveliev from Russia, but she sent him back to his native country alone and with just a letter. The boy was reportedly found wandering all over the airport alone until customs officers approached him and he gave them the letter.

He only handed them a letter. Employees of the airport were shocked when the letter was translated from English into Russian. Torry Hansen, a US citizen, wrote in the letter that she adopted the child on September 29, 2009. The woman wrote that she did not like the boy, he did not fit her, and she decided to return him like a pair of shoes. The woman sent the child back to Russia.

“The boy had a Russian passport with the US visa and a birth certificate. He also had a boarding ticket. He arrived on board a plane of United Airlines. The boarding ticket said that the child was not accompanied by adults,” Pavel Astakhov, the Kremlin’s commissioner for children’s rights said.

One may only guess how the boy managed to pass through customs in the USA and board the plane without adults. However, as soon as the boy found himself at the police station, officials of the US embassy showed up very quickly. Source: Pravda.ru
Gee, what about calling the agency you adopted the child from and voicing your concern? I am shocked that the boy managed to get through at least two airports before someone realized he was traveling alone. Shouldn't he have been escorted by an airline employee? This is such a sad case.
