Larry North Accused of Planting Pipe Bombs in East Texas Mailboxes Over Anger at Government

Larry Eugene North accused of planting pipe bombs in mailboxes all over East Texas because at his anger at the government.

Larry Eugene North, 52, has been accused of possessing pipe bombs and distributing them in multiple East Texas mailboxes because of anger at the government. North was indicted on Wednesday and according to Brit Featherston, first assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, he allegedly left explosive devices, including pipe bombs in multiple area mail boxes because of his anger against the government.

Authorities had identified North as a person of interest in connection with a string of incidents in which explosive devices were placed in mailboxes in East Texas. They say that he was witnessed putting a pipe bomb in a collection box in Tyler Wednesday. Prosecutors say North distributed 36 devices in 23 locations, but he has not been charged beyond the possession count.

This isn't Larry North's first run-in with the law. According to Tyler Paper, in the late 1980s Henderson police arrested him on a charge of unlawfully carrying a prohibited weapon. He was convicted of a Class A misdemeanor in 1989.

North will undergo a court-ordered mental health evaluation in a medical facility within the Bureau of  Federal Prisons, U.S. Magistrate Judge John David Love ruled today, according to the Tyler Paper.
