Erica DeRamus' Prom Dress Violated School Dress Code, Took Suspension Over Paddling

Erica DeRamus opted for suspension instead of paddling from Oxford High School in Alabama after prom dress violates school code.

Erica DeRamus was suspended from Oxford High School, located in Oxford, Ala.,  for wearing a prom dress that violated the school's dress code. The school said the dress was too short and too revealing at the top. What is most shocking to me is that fact that the punishment was either suspension or paddling. Yes, I said paddling. I didn't realize that schools could do that, but I am not surprised that a school in the South would still have such a policy on their books. There were 18 dress violations that night and 17 students chose paddling. This is unbelievable.
