JAILED!!! Bernie Kerik's Bail Revoked by Federal Court Judge, Sent to Prison to Await Start of Corruption Trial Next Week

JAILED!!!! Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik was sent to jail after a federal judge revoked his bail. His corruption trial is scheduled to begin next week. Judge Stephen Robinson called Kerik a "toxic combination of self-minded focus and arrogance." He also said he was revoking the $500,000 bail because Kerik disclosed sealed case information to the trustee of his legal defense fund. The trustee shared some of the secret information with the Washington Times, which didn't publish it. Judge Robinson said he did not believe Kerik's claim that the trustee had been hired as a lawyer and was therefore allowed to see the information.

Judge Robinson said Kerik was being jailed to make sure he was unable to "influence witnesses or prospective jurors." "My fear is that he has a toxic combination of self-minded focus and arrogance, and I fear that combination leads him to believe that his ends justify his means," Robinson said. "The failure of Mr. Kerik to abide by the direct order of this court ... must be appropriately addressed."

Kerik is charged with accepting apartment renovations from a construction company in exchange for recommending the company for city contracts. He has pleaded not guilty. I find it absolutely amazing and a little hypocritical on Geraldo Rivera's part to continue to invite Kerik on his weekend show on Fox News Channel to give his opinion on various matters.

You will recall that Bernie Kerik was tapped by former President George W. Bush to be head the Department of Homeland Security Kerik, but withdrew before the sh** hit the fan. He is a protege of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is the godfather of one of his children. You see, Bernie Kerik claimed the ranks within the police department without even having a college degree, which he attained much later in his career. He made it to the top by being Giuliani's yes man. His cocky demeanor caught up with him once again. Judge Robinson said that Kerik seemed to believe that "the rulings of this court are an inconvenience to be forgotten or an obstacle to be circumvented. Mr. Kerik sees himself as a victim of circumstance ... I think he needs to refocus." After this mess is over, he faces a second trial on tax charges, and a third that claims he lied to White House officials vetting him for the position of Homeland Security secretary.
