Daniel Aleman & Daniel Rodriguez, Arrested and Charged With a Hate Crime in Vicious Beating of Gay Man Jack Price

Jack Price, 49, who is gay, was repeatedly punched and stomped by two thugs, Daniel Aleman, 26, and Daniel Rodriguez, 21, on a street in College Point, in the borough of Queens, New York. The shocking video of the beating was posted on the New York Daily News web site. The video shows Prices trying repeatedly to get to his feet to escape the brutal attack. He is in a medically induced coma and the two thugs have been arrested.

Late Tuesday, however, he remained in critical condition at New York Hospital Queens, hooked up to a respirator. His lungs are collapsed and his jaw and ribs are broken. This is a despicable crime. He was attacked simply for his sexual orientation and this unspeakable act should not be tolerated one iota.
Police captured Rodriguez after they learned through the Real Time Crime Center database he had relatives in Virginia. Norfolk detectives and the U.S. Marshals Service were mobilized, and NYPD officers were dispatched immediately.

Aleman was ordered held on $20,000 bail Tuesday as he was arraigned on a charge of felony assault as a hate crime. Charges were pending against Rodriguez.
Price was mocked with anti-gay slurs by the two men as he was walking to a deli. When he left the store, the slurs continued, Brown said, and then the suspects attacked. Source: NY Daily News
The video apparently came from one of several surveillance cameras installed in the area by the College Point Board of Trade to deter graffiti. There is no room for such hatred and bigotry in this country. One should not be judged by one's sexual orientation or the color of one's skin. It seems that some people in this country are heading down a treacherous slope where they have no regard for the basic rights we are all afforded under the Constitution. This is a disgrace and I hope this two thugs are denied bail and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
