Pat Buchanan Refuses to Apologize for Referring to President Obama as "Your Boy" During Exchange with Rev. Al Sharpton

Pat Buchanan, who is no stranger to making racially insensitive comments, refuses to apologize for calling President Barack Obama a "boy," during an exchange with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC. On first thought, I don't think he was being racist. I think Buchanan was trying to be a smart-ass and it backfired. Like Mark Halperin (who called President Obama a "dick" on live television), he should be suspended by MSNBC for disrespecting the president in such a manner. He's not in the streets or his living room.

"Some folks took what I said as some kind of a slur," Buchanan said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe.""None was meant, none was intended, none was delivered."

The night before, on an MSNBC show guest-hosted by the mouthy New York civil rights activist, Buchanan riled Sharpton during an argument about the politics of taxes.

"Your boy, Barack Obama, caved..." Buchanan started to say.Sharpton reared back. "My what?" he said. "My president, Barack Obama? What did you say?" "He's your boy in the ring," Buchanan said, chuckling at Sharpton's anger. "He's nobody's boy," Sharpton shot back. "He's your president, and he's our president, and that's what y'all don't get through your head." Source

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't be offended because I think he meant Sharpton was a big supporter of the president, but coming from the lips of Pat Buchanan, who has called President Obama other names, this is inexcusable. Besides, white men calling a black man a boy brings back memories of Jim Crow and slavery, so let's not get it twisted.
