Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has asked "Jersey Shore" actor
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino not to wear its clothes on the popular MTV show. The company said it would compensate "The Situation" not to wear its clothes worrying he clashes with its cultivated image. This bizarre request came during the company's conference call and earnings report.
Abercrombie & Fitch Co. says in a news release posted Tuesday that it’s concerned that having Sorrentino seen in its clothing could cause “significant damage” to the company’s image.
Abercrombie says a connection to the Situation goes against the “aspirational nature” of its brand and may be “distressing” to customers. The Ohio-based retailer says it has offered a “substantial payment” to Sorrentino and producers of the MTV show so he’ll wear something else. Source
Didn't Tommy Hilfiger and Timberland spark some controversy about the large numbers of young black men buying and wearing their products? Um, why not boycott Abercrombie & Fitch altogether?
