Newborn Baby Discarded by Parents Sinead Harrison, 18, & Landis Moore, 19, Dies, Charges Could be Upgraded After Autopsy

I have to start off by asking, why is it that some people who don't deservet to have children are the most fertile, while there are many who would be good parents and they can't conceive children? Atlanta residents Sinead Harrison, 18, and Landis Moore, 19, are two scumbags who do not deserve to have any children. They are the parents of a newborn baby who was abandoned in a storm drain. The baby has since died and they should face murder charges for their actions. As a mother of two children I cannot fathom ever harming my children, let alone an innocent baby. I want to protect my children, not put them in harm's way. This is unconscionable and these two scumbags should not see the outside of a prison wall again for a long time.

DeKalb County police said they found the baby abandoned in a storm drain at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday. They were following a tip from Sinead Harrison who told police that she gave birth to the baby in a gas station restroom and then she put the baby in a dumpster near Wesley Chapel Road. Police said they searched the dumpster but did not find the baby. This idiot also gave police her boyfriend's address. Police questioned Landis Moore, and he allegedly confessed that his girlfriend had given birth to their son in the house and then he had put the baby in the storm drain. They discarded the baby like he was garbage. This woman is old enough to know what can happen when you have unprotected sex. She's old enough to know that this baby did not deserve to be discarded like trash. She could have had the baby in a hospital and gave him up for adoption. They should both be tried for murder.
Officials said the baby boy had been in the drain for "several hours" but he was initially expected to survive. He died Thursday evening. "They located the baby inside that storm drain … I don't know how the condition was but I know that she did give birth early Thursday morning and it was placed in that storm drain and had been there for a few hours. But it was alive and it was transported," said Officer Jason Gagnon with the DeKalb County Police Department.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Richard Elliot talked to Moore and asked, "Police say the baby was alive when they pulled him out of the storm drain, but you say it was a miscarriage?" "It was a miscarriage," responded Moore. Source: WSBTV
Even if this was a miscarriage, you just don't leave the baby like trash in a storm drain. The boyfriend is a dirtbag for allowing her to do this. He is just as guilty in the terrible fate this baby met as she is. They face child cruelty charges, but charges could be upgraded after the autopsy and they should.

 Landis Stewart-Moore (Dekalb County Jail)

UPDATE#1:  The bond for these two baby killers have been set at $50,000. With any luck they will sit in prison until it's time for their trials. It turns out that Landis Stewart-Moore is no stranger to the penal system. He was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping in connection with the April 2008 robbery of a Candler Road hamburger stand. Last month, he was arrested for marijuana possession, according to jail records. So, with his criminal record, he should get the maximum sentence allowed under the law.

What is unconscionable is the fact that this woman, according to media reports, didn't hide her pregnancy. So, why discard the baby like trash? If these two idiots had taken the time to find out what resources were available to them to give the baby up for adoption, then they could have avoided the prospect of prison altogether. They could have left the baby with an on-duty hospital worker. Georgia's Safe Place for Newborns Act of 2002 allows a mother to leave her newborn baby within seven days of birth at any hospital in the state. The newborn must be left with a hospital employee and the mother must leave her name and address.
