Eleven ACORN Workers Accused of Faking Voter Registration Cards in Miami-Dade

Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also known as ACORN, is back in the news again and the right wing will break Usain Bolt's record trying to cover this latest development. Eleven people who were hired by the organization before the presidential elections to register potential voters in Miami-Dade county are being sought for falsifying hundreds of voter registration cards. Warrants have been issued for the 11 who worked for the local chapter. Authorities said by early Wednesday morning, six were in custody.
ACORN came under fire during last year's presidential campaign when Republicans and other conservative groups accused the national organization of committing fraud in its aggressive voter registration efforts in various cities and counties nationwide, including Florida. But ACORN officials said they had alerted authorities about the alleged illegal activity among some canvassers in Miami-Dade after finding "numerous discrepancies'' on voter cards collected from the Homestead area.

The arrests are "further evidence we've been policing our own folks and report people attempting to commit voter registration fraud," said ACORN spokesman Brian Kettenring. "This was really some individuals who were trying to defraud their employer." Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernández Rundle praised ACORN. She said "We've been very aggressive about a lot of these cases.""But we would not have known about these workers unless ACORN brought it to us. "It's really minor, ineffectual attempts to justify getting paid an hourly basis. It could not have impacted the voting process whatsoever. Nonetheless, we cannot turn a blind eye to this,'' Rundle added. Source: Miami Herald
The right wing media and so-called pundits will run with this and tie it to President Obama in some way. It's important to note that the state attorney praised ACORN for bringing this to their attention. Of course, this major detail will be lost in the coverage by the right. Don't get me wrong, what these 11 people have been accused of is unconscionable, but this clearly has nothing to do with the president, but that fact will be lost on people like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin.
