Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said Damas is not a suspect in the case, merely a 'person they want to talk to.' Law enforcement believes he boarded a flight to Haiti Friday morning. He is described as a black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 230 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes. Neighbors said he worked as a chef at Millers Ale House on Pine Ridge Road.

Many neighbors say they never saw the mother, but Damas could always be seen outside playing with his children and tossing a football around. What is ironic is that Jean Damas Sr., the father of Mesac, was asked in an interview with the Naples Daily News if he thought his son may have killed his family members and he said, “yes, yes, I do.” He said his son and his wife have had domestic problems. “Since then, the wife no have any respect … no respect,’’ he said in broken English. “No listen ... He think his wife has somebody else ... Jealousy,’’ he said in broken English. Wow. It's amazing that the victim is always blamed for the crime. If his statements are true, this woman and the children did not deserve to be murdered, whether she was cheating, difficult to deal with or otherwise.UPDATE#1 "The Haitian national police have picked up a subject they believe to be Mesac Damas," the Collier County, Florida, sheriff's office said in a written statement. "This individual is now in Haitian police custody."
According to records on the Collier County Clerk of Courts Web site, Damas has prior charges for domestic violence in June 2005 involving his wife, Guerline Dieu, and children. He also brought charges against his wife for domestic violence, but the November 2006 case never moved forward because he failed to appear in court. This seems to be the culmination of a toxic relationship and the children were caught squarely in the cross hairs.
