U.S. Coast Guard Conducts Training Exercise on Potomac on September 11 of All Days

Of all the days, the U.S. Coast Guard chose September 11th to conduct a training exercise in the Potomac River moments before President Obama and his motorcade crossed a nearby bridge. Gee, I wonder whose idea that was? Anyone in their right minds would know that performing such an exercise on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country was not a good idea.

Coast Guard Chief Keith Moore said Friday no shots were fired as part of the exercise. Media reports suggested shots had been fired in the river.

"The Coast Guard has boats in the area," Homeland Security spokesman Matt Chandler said. "We are working to confirm more information on the incident. At this time, we cannot confirm shots fired or any law enforcement action taken. We will provide updates as they become available."
