Demario Ware, 20, was charged yesterday with murder in the shooting death of ex-boxing champion Vernon Forrest, although the police have said they don't believe he was the triggerman. He was also charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. Forrest was shot to death on July 25 after he chased a man who robbed him of his championship ring and Rolex watch. Police said Ware was responsible for the robbery but that they were still looking for the shooter and at least two other suspects. Ware is expected to have a bond hearing today.
Atlanta police said that without surveillance video from a Mechanicsville apartment the night of the crime, detectives would not have solved the case.
