Dennis Carter Sr., Kills Estranged Wife, Son and Two-Year Old Grandson, Before Turning the Gun on Himself as Police Closed in

Authorities in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, said Dennis Carter Sr. went on a shooting rampage killing his estranged wife Donna Carter, 49, son Dennis Carter Jr., 26, his son Mason Carter, 2, as well as critically injuring his pregnant daughter-in-law Amber Carter, 25. This scumbag turned the gun on himself as he fled in his car and the police were closing in. This heinous crime occurred in the town of Holden, Louisiana, located 35 miles east of Baton Rouge.

Deputies believe Amber Carter attempted to escape from the gunman by jumping from a second-story window, holding Mason in her arms, but the boy did not survive his gunshot wounds. The police said Amber Carter had several bullets wounds and they believe she was shot in the back as she attempted to get out of the window. She is in critical condition in a New Orleans hospital.

Why Dennis Carter Sr. was not incarcerated is amazing. According to the sheriff's office, records from the Livingston Parish Detention Center show that he had been jailed "on three separate occasions in 2009 alone, on three separate charges of violation of a protective order and one charge of aggravated assault (domestic)."

Demario Ware, 20, Arrested and Charged with Murder in the Shooting Death of Ex-Boxing Champion Vernon Forrest

Demario Ware, 20, was charged yesterday with murder in the shooting death of ex-boxing champion Vernon Forrest, although the police have said they don't believe he was the triggerman. He was also charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. Forrest was shot to death on July 25 after he chased a man who robbed him of his championship ring and Rolex watch.

Police said Ware was responsible for the robbery but that they were still looking for the shooter and at least two other suspects. Ware is expected to have a bond hearing today.

Atlanta police said that without surveillance video from a Mechanicsville apartment the night of the crime, detectives would not have solved the case.
