Charman Sinkfield, 30, Arrested and Charged with the Murder of Former Boxing Champion Vernon Forrest

Charman Sinkfield, 30, has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals for murdering former boxing champion Vernon Forrest on July 26. The dirtbag was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals last night. He is the third man to be charged in connection with Forrest’s slaying. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail early Thursday, charged with murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery with a deadly weapon. Sinkfield is a career criminal who deserves to get the death penalty. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections web site, he has served three previous terms in state prisons. Sinkfield most recently served a two-year sentence for cocaine possession. He was released from Autry State Prison in December 2007. Yep, he was out on vacation from prison to be a menace to society.
An arrest warrant had previously been issued after tips from witnesses and video surveillance led police to Sinkfield. Marshals staked out a home in southwest Atlanta, and they followed a black sedan from Nathan Street to I-20 around 9 p.m., according to marshal James Ergas.

Twelve unmarked cars trailed the sedan for about 10 minutes Wednesday evening before forcing the vehicle to stop. Sinkfield, who was in the backseat, was one of three people in the sedan. At one point, he attempted to disguise himself with a wig, Ergas said. Source: AJC
Sinkfield is the final of three suspects whom investigators were seeking in the shooting of Forrest. Previously, police arrested Jquante Crews, 25, and Damario Ware, 20, both who face murder, weapons, assault and robbery charges.

Police have said robbery was the original intent. Forrest’s watch and championship ring were taken.
