NC Kindergarten Teacher Chandra January Resigns After Punishing 5 YO Boy by Taping Hands to Pretend "Going to Jail"

Chandra January, a kindergarten teacher at Boone Trail Elementary School in Lillington, North Carolina, resigned after she was accused of bounding the hands of a five year old student with tape 'like a terrorist' as punishment. According to the Daily Mail, she now faces the threat of a law suit from the family of the boy.
The incident happened last month when the boy picked up a rubber stamp from her desk and put it in his pocket before returning it.

January is said to have asked the child if he knew what happened to people who steal. He replied: 'You go to jail, ma'am.' She is then alleged to have said: 'Let me show you what it's like to go to jail.' January bound his hands above his head and now his father Frank Gibson is planning to press civil charges against her.

One of the students who saw the incident on March 30 told another teacher who reported it to the principal of the 600-pupil school. Source
I don't know what the motivation of the Ms. January was to have chosen this form of punishment. But it's safe to say most parents would take offense to that form of punishment, without a doubt.
