Post Office Halts Mail Delivery To Chicago's Harvey Neighborhood, Says It's The Most Dangerous Block In The U.S.

I never thought I would hear that the United States Postal Service has halted mail delivery, since they say that neither snow nor rain would stop the mail delivery, but I supposed crime would halt anything. Well, according to media reports, the USPS has suspended service in the Harvey neighborhood in suburban Chicago. Of course, the right wing media will say that Barack Obama hails from Chicago and this is happening in his backyard, but I beg to differ. Where are the politicians who canvas in this neighborhood when they are seeking votes?

CBS 2's Dana Kozlov has reported that one mail carrier in Harvey feels threatened. CBS 2 said that people who live on it said that they haven't gotten any mail delivered to their homes in almost two weeks. Venus Jones is one such person. "Between robberies and shootings and delayed police response, several things going on, that would make it unsafe," said Harvey resident Venus Jones. One of those shootings on the morning of October 10th reportedly happened yards away from the mail carrier. That's when the mail stopped on Marshfield between 151st and 152nd streets, but the post office didn't tell anyone. "Some of the people didn't even know that it was being held at the post office," Jones said.

Here's a shocking bit of information reported to CBS2, Jones said that her own home has been broken into three times in 30 days. Wow, is this occurring in the United States of America? It seems really hypocritical to me that this could be happening here and we are sticking our nose into what's happening in Iraq. It is a shame that a mail carrier needs police escort to deliver the mail or for the post office to suspend delivery all together. It seems to me like a dose of Martial law would solve most of the problems. People need to take back their neighborhoods from these armed thugs. It is a damn shame that this is happening in America.
