Gov. Sarah Palin Spends $150,000 of the Republican National Committee's Money on Clothing

Gov. Sarah Palin is in the news again and not for a good reason. It seems that the Republican National Committee spent more than $150,000 on clothing and make-up for the governor, her husband (the shadow governor) and even her infant son. Wow, did they look that bad that the party had to take care of their wardrobe? Imagine if that was Joe Biden and his wife, we would hear no end to the attacks from John McCain and Sarah Palin, of all people. Governor Palin thinks this is akin to the Miss Alaska fashion show.

Of course, the McCain campaign bemoaned the matter as being trivial."With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses," said spokesperson Tracey Schmitt. "It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign." I am sure Sarah Palin and her husband are going to give the clothes to charity. Right and the American people are as much in the dark as Sarah Palin is. Of course I am being sarcastic.

You see, this wouldn't be such a big deal, but both John McCain and Sarah Palin are singing the virtues of Joe the Plumber, Joe Six Pack and the ordinary working class people in America, when that couldn't be farthest from the truth, as proven by her massive wardrobe expenses courtesy of the RNC. This will undoubtedly dampen the enthusiasm among the GOP activists and donors at a critical point in the race for the White House. Isn't John McCain hurting for money? Yeah, another spigot is about to be turned off. This latest revelation creates a Public Relations nightmare for the McCain camp as well, because he and his sidekick are trying to make inroads among voters who are worried about the current economic crisis. So, who's elitist now? How many average, working class Americans can spend $150,000 on clothing?

So, that whole shopping spree at Wal-Mart that Gov. Palin and her infant son embarked on was nothing but a photo op, because she shops at Neimann Marcus, where she dropped $75,000 and at Saks Fifth Avenue, nearly $50,000 of your donations to the RNC. What a hypocrite. That's equivalent to $2,500 in clothes per day. Let's take a trip down memory lane. Didn't the Republicans lambast John Edwards over a $400 haircut that was paid for with his own campaign money, which were later reimbursed?

The revelation comes at a good time for the Democrats and a bad time for John McCain. According to the Huffington Post, during a week in which the Republican ticket is trying to highlight its connection to the working class - and, by extension, promoting its newest campaign tool, Joe the Plumber - it was revealed that Palin's fashion budget for several weeks was more than four times the median salary of an American plumber ($37,514). To put it another way: Palin received more valuable clothes in one month than the average American household spends on clothes in 80 years. A Democrat put it in even blunter terms: her clothes were the cost of health care for 15 or so people. Wow, that is pretty staggering. Doesn't Barack Obama still wear the same old shoes? I shudder to see Cindy McCain's wardrobe expenditures, but she's filthy rich.

Watch out media, Sarah Palin won't be taking any questions or doing any interviews. The McCain campaign will see to it that she's off limits once again. Here are the true elitists.
